More fixes!

Our update from yesterday caused connection issues for some people, so today we pushed another update. To get the update, just sign out of digsby (or exit the program) and sign back in. Hopefully this will be the end of everyone’s connection issues! If you’re still having trouble please e-mail us at bugs@digsby.com or use the “Submit Bug Report” feature in the “Help” menu of digsby.

As always, keep the feedback and bug reports coming!

I got rid of my menu like the one on top of the busy list, and i can not figure out how to get it back. help?
  • Sandra
    digsby is totally awesome!!!!
Showing invisible means my icq contacts get every msg twice ^^
So yea, this being invisible thing definitly works better with some other clients (qip my fav there) but I'll try be patient for a few new features to customise my visibility!
Also, like Holger said... There are more networks. I personally would enjoy logging onto my bebo and our german sites schuelervz/studivz...
oh and with skype included Digsby will make all my IM dreams come true!
No pressure. Your guys are doing GREAT!
    Love it =)
  • MattLee
i love how this messenger is coming a long. there have been more bugs than ive seen in any other messenger but i'm glad to see they are being fixed very quickly, i see this as the potential to be the best instant messenger out there.
  • holger
HI! nice work, nice programm! but in germany we have studivz.net as biggest social network.
so it would be very nice to add this network to digsby
  • Hello,I can't type Chinese in the widget.
    And Can you support multi-language.
  • Digsby is not pleased by pasting several lines at once over the AIM protocol, can't confirm for others
  • @Jeff - we took it out for launch because it was buggy... we will bring it back
  • Jeff Brewster
Is there support for AIM chat rooms? I couldn't seem to find it. If not, any plans for the future?
  • jonny6pak
I love this application. I've only been using it for a day and thus I only have two minor suggestion: I would love to have the buddy list not appear in my task bar. I use Pidgin and have a plug that limits the buddy list to the system tray only and this saves me some real estate. Having such an option in Digsby would be great.

Also, when I open up my laptop from being in sleep mode, MySpace does not reconnect. I wonder if the social networks and email account options should have a reconnect option similar to what you have in place for the IM accounts under the "General & Profile" tab in the settings menu.

Good work, I look forward to this program getting better. Thanks.
  • Sonny Gill
One thing i've noticed is that if i start off being 'invisible' and then sign into my hotmail and gmail accounts, my online buddies won't appear until I show that I'm available. Only after that can I go back to being invisible with my list showing. Odd.
  • JD
Great work! Are you guys gonna put in a 'transparency' option in the future?
  • Dan
When I try to initiate a chat with a contact on MSN, it doesn't go through. I type in the entry box and it shows up, but when I press enter to send, the text I have entered just goes away. No chat is initiated and nothing appears in the "chat" portion of the window. I have restarted, allowed Digsby to update, and tried this multiple times.

Also, during the update process this morning, Digsby seems to have forgotten where my browser is. None of the links (email, Facebook, etc.) are opening their targets in my default, or any, browser.

This is keeping me on Trillian for the moment, unfortunately. I'll keep updating it and checking back, though, because once stuff is ironed out, Digsby is going to be awesome. :)

I tried to start Digsby today after not using it during the weekend and it said it had to update. I did nothing, it updated and said "Digsby needs to restart...". I closed it and ran it again, it said "Update Successful" and then changed to "Digsby needs to restart..." again. I tried restarting it a few times, and then I tried to restart Windows. It was still there, so I downloaded it again, uninstalled it and installed again. Same problem. I even tried deleting the Digsby folder from Application Data but no luck with the problem. What should I do?

    Great application, by the way.
  • Mike
The new version still doesn't seem to work behind a proxy. I downloaded the new version and installed it, set the proxy settings to what I use for pidgin and attempted to sign on. It downloaded a update and restarted itself and said update successful. I then tried to connect again and this time it just gives me a failed to connect message.
  • @Bwangester - try restarting digsby to make sure you have the latest upgrades. If it still doesn't work email us at bugs@digsby.com with a description of what is going wrong with your widget and we will fix it ASAP!

@Dan - more skins coming soon!
  • Dan
Not sure what might have caused it, but when I first opened Digsby this morning it checked for and retrieved/installed updates. Then, upon signing in, I found that all of my accounts have been deleted. I am having to manually add them back in. Signing out, closing, and restarting the program did not retrieve the accounts.

There does appear to be a bug. The Facebook Widget doesn't work when I try and connect on my computer and two others.
  • Zombiefly
    Guys, guys, guys :)
keep going with this, its excellent. Now hurry up with the now playing/last.fm integration already :)
  • Dan
    Hey,

Loving Digsby so far! Have you got any plans for contact list theming support, like AdiumX?
  • Hippo
Digsby is amazing. i already made the jump from trillian astra. :D
  • Just Josh
So, um... when can we start giving feature suggestions?
  • Zathman
Hmmm... nevermind, seems to have resolved itself.
  • Justin
Hi, one thing I think you need really bad is the ability for new incoming instant messages to be displayed in the system tray with a small discreet blinking icon rather than popping up, or minimizing it to the tool bar. Trillian does this, and as soon as your program adds this feature, Trillian will be obsolete to me. People with nosey bosses and parents could probably identify with me here, as I'd like to know that if someone is looking at my screen over my shoulder they wont be able to read any incoming IMs. That is, until I click the blinking icon in the system trey :)
  • Zathman
Steve - it would appear that the Facebook widgets no longer work. I'm online, but when my Digsby widget is clicked and it gets to "Checking Status" on my online/offline status in the widget, it comes up that I'm Offline. I've restarted my client, but it continues to show that I'm Offline on my Facebook Widget. Ideas?
  • Bwangster12
I do have the most recent version of flash and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I tried it on another computer and it wasn't loading either.

Does it need any setup other than what you do when you start Digsby the first time?
  • @Bwangster12 - I think so. We would need something light weight so when you click a link the compose window can come up quickly even if digsby is not running. We will evaluate this more closely once we get the bugs under control. We take great care in planning the usability side of any new feature.
  • Bwangster12
I think its the fact that these Digsby compose windows are so easy and convenient in comparison to popping open the entire browser to check and compose email.

Do you have any plans on doing some sort of MAIL TO feature such that Gmail Mananager has? When you click on an email link in a webpage, it could pop open the compose box.
  • Rich
Hey, the update is good but I have a request. Is there a chance that there could be an option to always have the tab bar shown in the conversation window?
  • @Bwangster12

widget: upgrade flash and you should be all set

email: I'm surprised how many people have requested the ability to open a digsby compose window instead of the browser one! We will add this in such a way that you have the option to do either
  • Bwangster12
I noticed that in the Widget Preview window when I open the settings, it shows the exact red background, with the Digsby logo in the bottom right corner that it shows when I try to launch the Facebook widget when using IE.

It just shows the link that lets me create one when using Firefox.
  • Bwangster12
I was curious to know if there was any work being done with the EMAIL features?

I've had the Gmail Manager in Firefox, and since uninstalled it because Digsby appears to cover my email checking. Only problem is when I am provided a email address in a website to email, Gmail Manager popped open my Gmail browser and populated the TO line so I can email that person.

Is there a way to have this incorporated in with the Email portion of Digsby? Moreso, to have an EMAIL chat window pop open and not have the entire browser have to load up. I would like more use of the popup email window. I like to send messages using these windows. To send an email, I've been clicking a screenname and hitting SEND EMAIL, then I have to change the screenname to the email address I want.
  • Of course I read my RSS blog about this AFTER I send in the bug about Yahoo not connecting due to multiple sign on attempts. LOL

Now, after the update, I've lost my Yahoo! email client that was working and still have the message about "signing on too often," but I'm going to presume that is because I WAS and try again tomorrow.
  • @Rami - you need to give the list focus by clicking on it. After that the scroll wheel should work. We will try to give it focus on mouse over. Let me know if you have any problems.

@Kyanges - glad to head the new proxy support is working. We are very dedicated to making a wonderful product for our users and will diligently work to fix all issues. As for memory, we plugged a lot of our memory leaks and will continue to do so!
  • Kyanges
Well, I have not any any connection issues since the last update, but this update certainly seems to have reduced the memory usage even more.

I do not know how you manage to keep such a furious development pace, but I am really impressed.

There is a slight visual glitch in the "MiniBubble" theme where the time stamp overlaps slightly with the text in a message, but that is pretty minor. I will submit a but report the next time it happens.

All in all, this is a great program, and I can't wait to see how the video and audio development come along. I look forward to the next round of optimization.
  • Rami
    Hi,
Love this application. Very creative and efficient.
One thing thu, When you hover the cursor over emails for example, on the left it shows the list of new emails. Would be great if we could use the mouse "wheel" to browse "advance" through the list.
  • @Neal - each conversation theme handles timestamps differently - some can do a timestamp after each message and some can't simply because of their visual design

@Peter - if you are still having trouble send us an email at bugs@digsby.com and we will fix the cause ASAP!
  • Erik
Looks good - now able to connect to those email accounts that got broken yesterday.
  • Mike
The IMAP account seems to be working now. Great!
  • Mike
Thanks. Hosted gmail is fixed now, but IMAP isn't. I have submitted bug report.
  • Neal
Hi! First of all, I LOVE Digsby! Keep up the awesome development. I'm not sure if this is the place to put this, but I would like to see a time stamp in the chat window for every message, not subsequent messages that are uninterrupted by a response. Thanks!
  • Peter
Hi, sorry to say this but I have problems signing in to digsby, after the update. The Connection Lost message appears.

    Thanks

    Peter
