Build 42 – ICQ Protocol Fix

ICQ deprecated an older version of their client earlier today and Digsby users were not able to get presence info for their buddies.  An update was just pushed to all users (r19460) and alpha testers (r19442) fixing the issue.

  • I'm just curious, but how does this become an issue? I'm just asking, because I tried a few other IM Clients and there's no problems connecting to ICQ on their. I can only guess that it has something to do with how DigsBy was coded and what information is replayed when communicating with the IM networks?

Can't connect either. I have the error network message every few minutes. Latest build of course. :-(

I'm using latest build 19460 and I keep receiving 'There was a network error creating a chat session' error message every few minutes. It's really irritating 'cause this wasn't happening few weeks ago. Gonna make me uninstall digsby. Please fix it. Thanks.
  • @Bodo + ANick: It should auto-update for you. After you log in, use Help > Send Bug Report to submit a diagnostic log if it does not.

@Gil: Send an email to bugs@digsby.com so we can figure out what is going wrong.

I am also having trouble connecting after the update. Once its updated I get stuck at the login and it says its "checking for updates".
  • Bodo
I`ve installed that version now (http://update.digsby.com/install/digsby_setup.exe) but ICQ ist the same - not going.

    Hi,

since last release I also have connection problem with my gmail. I have 1 gmail e-mail account and 2 hotmail e-mail accounts. I use those 3 accounts for chatting. For IM I can login and connect without any problems. But I can't connect anymore to my gmail e-mail account (the hotmail accounts have no problem with connecting).
So I have the same problem as someone else who has mentioned this problem in this thread a little higher.

    Kind Regards
  • Zak
So out of curiosity, how many more bug fix releases until the new features start coming out?

Also, keep up the good work!
  • ANick
How can I update my Digsby manually?
My current version is 19212. I tried to download from http://update.digsby.com/install/digsby_setup.exe but version is the same and ICQ doesn't work :(
  • If you are still having this issue, download and run the latest installer here:

    http://update.digsby.com/install/digsby_setup.exe

Some people are running a very old version of Digsby that we don't auto-update. However, we will auto-update it later today.
  • I waiting for an update. ICQ is not going.

I have build 15142 and I still get the ICQ error.

ICQ version 5.1 is no longer supported. Download a free authorized ICQ version from ICQ's official website.

I have restarted Digsby twice thinking I may have missed an update, but nothing..
  • @Sam: It was just the order in which we created the patches and the current revision of the code repository at the time.

@Jullian: Email bugs@digsby.com if you are having trouble. We're not hearing other reports of people having trouble connecting.

  • Thank you!
  • Sam
Just wondering, why is the alpha release labeled a lower number than the stable version?
  • Honzy
THX! Was done fast. GJ :P
  • TimTom
Yeah, you guys are really quick ;)

    Thanks!
  • Operator
