Build 63 – Getting Your Social Fix!
We just pushed out a small patch (Build 63 – r23635 r23639 r23681 r23848) fixing login for LinkedIn and Facebook Chat, which broke last night due to protocol changes. The fixes are listed on the Change Log.
Unfortunately, the Facebook Chat servers no longer transmit the status messages of your buddies so the infobox will not show this info for each buddy. However, you will still see status updates in the newsfeed if you added Facebook as a social network also.
Update 1 (8/26/09 10:35am EST): It looks like your own name is no longer shown in the IM window and your Facebook ID number is shown instead. We’re working on fixing this now.
Update 2 (8/26/09 11:20am EST): We just pushed out a small patch with one more protocol fix. Your own name will now show instead of the Facebook ID number in IM windows. The new release number is r23639.
Update 3 (8/28/2009 10:30am EST): One more quick patch for LinkedIn bringing the release number to r23681.
Update 4 (9/4/2009 11:15am EST): Protocol changes galore! This update is a small patch fixing a bug that is causing MySpace to get stuck in “Connecting” for some users and brings the release number to r23848.

Aww man thats such a chame about the status names, used to save me logging in when the wife says “have you seen so&so’s status” lol
One thing tho, my user name in my chat window is showing as a number if im usinf FB chat!! Rathe rthen Russell it says 612827321?!
Chris Said,
August 26, 2009 @ 10:12 am
well, that kinda blows on facebook’s part. Great job in catching it though guys! Nice and fast! Even though it didn’t cause me any problems really.
Is this gonna be “fixed” in a later build? Or, is it on facebook to do their part? oO Cause, it’s kinda tedious going down to the network section, and viewing the timeline when ya used to be able to see status updates when the users logged on.
*Sigh* lol. I’m beginning to get used to facebook acting like a pain in the ass….

I’ve had issues logging into facebook chat for ages, it’ll prompt me with a facebook loginID and password window every time I log into digsby. I’ll have to see if this new version fixes that issue or not.
I think the different mediums contacts should be listed separately in the contact list, instead of facebook users mixed in with MSN users, for instance, because that is very confusing. I don’t know who is in what medium on my contact list anymore. Every time I add a facebook user, they show up mixed in with my MSN contacts.
Digsby Said,
August 26, 2009 @ 10:31 am
@bubazoo: In that login window you can tell it to keep you signed in. If it asks after that, it is because their servers accidentally clear the session when they should not.
As for listing contacts separately, in Preferences > Buddy List, you can set it to “sort by service” and “group by service” which will create a different group on your buddy list for each medium.

Thanks for getting on the ball and fixing this one quick. Actually, last night I was finding that even though my buddy list wasn’t displaying when I was logged into Facebook chat on Digsby, I could still see and respond to any messages someone sent me through Facebook.
Now, if only Digsby could store Facebook chat logs with names instead of numbers…

FYI, I noticed that some of my E-mail Accounts and Social Networks were unchecked when I relaunched Digsby. No big deal, I just rechecked them in properties, but I thought you might want to know.
Digsby Said,
August 26, 2009 @ 12:19 pm
@Shannon: We don’t release a portable version of Digsby yet. If someone hacked it together somehow, sorry if it isn’t compatible with auto-update. Not sure where it is storing logs or how that works.

@DIGSBY
Is their a place/site or person/email at facebook who we the Digsby user community can all complain to? I figured the Digsby community could all work together to raise enough hell to get Facebook to change their chat servers so we can get our “status in facebook chat” feature back!
Whatcha think???
If there is a place or person to complain to, you should make a blog post about it to help start this community movement.
It really sux not having the status updates…

Great….but now when are you finally going to fix the Yahoo! Messenger problem, where it comes up with an Authentication Error when it tries to connect and it requires you to log into Yahoo’s site for it to work properly again? Trillian Astra and Pidgin have that problem all taken care of….why hasn’t Digsby fixed it?

Attention !!!
i had a look into portable version.this version is including a virus.
i have dissected it as far as possible. by the looks of it, it was designed, to grab all your email addresses, passwords of all accounts and social network sites etc.
probably to use it for spaming…who knows.
anyway, after cleaning up your pc, I advice you to change all passwords of all accounts (including digsby)
by the way, it´s still on cnet. so please dont touch it!
