Build 58 – Private Alpha Release

We just pushed an update to alpha testers (Build 58, r22238) which introduces fixes for the remaining known bugs in this series of alpha releases along with a fix for AIM/ICQ login. As always, you can read the entire list of enhancements on our Change Log. Notable changes include:

  • Fixed a bug that caused offline merged contacts to get stuck in their original group instead of moving to the “Offline” group
  • Add support for a change in the AIM/ICQ protocols that broke login
  • Added new diagnostic info to help us hunt down memory leaks – if you see Digsby using a ton of RAM (ie: over 200MB) please submit a bug report

We are hoping that this alpha becomes the next public release so if you run into any new bugs please let us know so they can be fixed before the build goes live for all users.  If you experience any issues please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us at bugs@digsby.com.

Love the app. The Gmail notifier in it has drastically improved things for me.

I hope to see two features emerge for the gmail notifier in the future: a mark-as-read-and-archive feature. This will be a killer time saver.

And also, maybe a checkbox that allows you to decide if gmail messages open with or without the gmail interface. Right now, If I open the message, I get the gmail window WITHOUT the interface, which wont let me label/archive the message.

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the new build, guys!

I asked for it a couple times a while back, but never heard back: any chance of adding a “Notes” option to add private notes about a contact? Maybe have it appear after the “IM, Files, Email, SMS tabs in the “Buddy Info” section?

Would this be a tough feature to add? I have no problem begging. :) :)

Keep up the good work Digsby team!

Fantastic. Please keep adding supported media players. VLC and Songbird are very popular right now.

taking a while to upload a bug report, the report was for messages coming in waves/ all at once, this was for both im’s and other notifications.

My Digsby proccess frequently goes over 100 to 150MB in ram, and doesn’t stop increasing but when it reaches that much I usually close it.

Should I try keeping it open to see if it reaches 200MB+ and then send a bug report to you? Would this be worth it?

    @Brandon

Was this with MSN? I’ve had that problem too before, but the other was using Trillian so I couldn’t be sure it’s my Digsby and not his Trillian. Maybe if others are experiencing it too, they can figure out if it’s Digsby’s fault. :)

Now, if only other people appear offline to other people using Yahoo… now I don’t know if it’s his Pidgin or Digsby… ;)

I’m very interested in when AIM chatroom support will be included into Digsby. Everything else about this program is -perfect- for what I’d like except for that. In fact, it’s the only thing keeping me from actually using Digsby at the moment. I loved it when I used it the first time. I’m really looking forward to chat support~ When that happens I’ll be pimping Digsby to every friend I have and all the players from my roleplays! ♥

Hi Devs, this build has brought a bug in the Digsby Twitter: cannot copy/paste tweets anymore (at least on Windows Vista)

After upgrading to this latest release, all of my status messages have disappeared and I am not sure how to get them back. Anyone else experiencing this issue with the latest release?

these pops i keep getting every time you guys update is really annoying. people don’t care to be notified when their software is updated, they just want it updated with out an annoying pop up. really? every time guys? come on, it’s fucking annoying. stop with that little i.m. window.

  21. Digsby Said,

    June 2, 2009 @ 4:10 pm

@nytel: You should probably switch away from using the alpha release. We notify alpha users when there is a new release so we can get bug reports and feedback as quickly as possible. If you remove the tag.yaml file from the Digsby program folder that will revert you to the public release.
