I recently got an email from Brandon De Hoyos, the Guide to IM at About.com. They are hosting the “2008 IM Best Awards”, which will deliver top honors to the best instant messaging clients and their developers. About.com is accepting nominations for this honor in the following categories:
- Best Instant Messenger Experience, measuring overall user experience;
- Most Improved Instant Messenger, based on back-to-back client releases;
- Best Mac Instant Messenger, based on overall user experience;
- Best Third-Party IM
- Best IM Feature
- Best IM Developer(s) of the Year.
Winners in each category will be given featured Essentials placement for one year on http://im.about.com, in addition to all the bragging rights
among the IM community. These nominations must be e-mailed to im.guide@about.com for consideration.

Is it just me, or is it a little difficult to nominate Digsby for “Best Mac Instant Messenger” when there is no Mac version of Digsby availabl yet? How can we vote for it if it doesn’t exist?

Please don’t “advertise” that there’s a Mac and Linux version when there isn’t. It’s much better to have a button on the front page saying “Mac and Linux versions coming soon”.

I have a question thought. What should my relative memory consumption be? I’m running MSN/Gmail/Hotmail/Facebook, how much memory should I expect to be using ideally?

I’d vote for you if I could but I haven’t been able to use Digsby I cant vote for you. I can’t use it because there is no Mac or Linux versions yet even though you have download buttons for them. I do think its kind of misleading.

For a while now I have realized that Adium although very good does not provide all the functions I want, It would be nice to know when the mac version of Digsby will be coming out besides “coming soon”
