Build 51 – March Madness

We just pushed a new release (Build 51, r21152 r21307 r21316) to all users. We have gone through several alpha releases since our last major update so there are are quite a few changes. This release includes all the features, bug fixes and enhancements in Builds 46 – 51 on our Change Log.  Notable changes include:

  • Added a “Local Mode” which saves all account info on your machine and uses that if Digsby is unable to connect to our servers to synchronize preferences.  Next time Digsby is able to log in, everything is synchronized.
  • Fixed Hotmail message actions such as Delete and Mark as Read, which broke due to a protocol change
  • Yahoo Protocol now uses their load balancers for more reliable login
  • Added auto-update capability for Windows 2000 users (if you are the admin account) and fixed several bugs that prevented some users from auto-updating
  • Fixed an issue that caused buddy list data (ie: merged contacts, nicknames) to not save and made preference saving more efficient
  • Changed the default port for AIM and ICQ to 443 since it is more likely to succeed in many firewall situations

So, what’s next?  We are currently wrapping up a few projects that will dramatically reduce Digsby’s CPU usage.  We’re also improving the reliability and speed of file transfers.  These changes will be pushed out to Alpha testers over the next week or two.  Once we make sure these updates are stable, we will push them out as the next major release.

While our alpha testers help us hunt down bugs, we’re switching gears into feature mode!  We have done a lot of work to improve stability and performance over the past few months so we’re going to take some time to work on all those features you have been requesting. We will focus on the most commonly requested features but we also have some plans of our own. Let us know what you want most in the comments!

We will keep pushing to make Digsby even better and want to thank all of you for your continued feedback and support.  If you want to tell the world about the Digsby, here are some ways you can help:

  • Post the news to sites like Digg, Facebook, Reddit, or Mixx
  • Invite your friends to try Digsby via Facebook
  • Write a review of Digsby on your blog
  • Use the “ShareThis” and “Buzz” widgets below to share the news

If you experience any bugs in this release, please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us.

Update 1 (04/01/2009 11:15am EST): We just pushed out a small patch fixing two issues.  First, a bug that was introduced that caused some users to receive an “Invalid Username” error on login.  Second, there was a small change in the Facebook API that caused the newsfeed functionality to break for some users.  This should now be fixed as well.

Update 2 (04/01/2009 2:20pm EST): One more small patch was pushed bringing the release number to 21316. This patch fixes an issue that caused “contact signed on” popups to show for all your buddies who were online at the time you sign on and affected a small portion of users. Thank you to everyone who reported bugs in this release and helped us hunt them down!

  • excellent site this blog.digsby.com rated to see you have what I am actually looking for here and this this post is exactly what I am interested in. I shall be pleased to become a regular visitor :)

    More features

    - Allow mutiple msn account login at SAME TIME
    - Different Menu/Buddy Tab for Different Accounts of gtalk, msn and stuff
  • james
Here's one more i just noticed as i use it, There is no clear indication of whether a contact is offline AFTER u started chatting with that person in a chat box. It simply says that person has signed off and as u type more msg in, you have to check manualy in buddy list to see if that person is offline or online as no more msg or indication of that. Hope the team are looking at the comments. lol.
  • james
One last thing, make it optional for user to UPDATE the software instead of it being automated, for one i feel it is more respectful of user choice whether they want to upgrade to a newer version. So a "Check for update" option would be nice which allow user to auto check for update every time or check every "x" days specificed by user or when user select check for updates.
  • james
My features wish list are as follows

    - MIRC integration (why not?)
    - Ability to search for a contact if needed by typing in a optional search bar
    - Optional choice to have email address of contact display by default so i can tell who is who even when they change Screen name. Maybe one way is to have the email address display as the middle line between screen name and personal messgae of the contact.
    - Clearer indication of blocked contacts with a blocked logo or symbol. I honestly cannot tell whether i have blocked one on digsby whereas i can easily on msn because of the said logo
    - Ability to add and delete contact to various groups with a right click "send user to new/particular group" and "delete user from new/particular group", right now you have to manually add each contact to a new group which is tiresome if u got 30 of them.
    - Ability to have an contact in more than one user group when specified by user
    - Ability to send individual message to an ENTIRE particular group with them receiving it as a personal message from you useful for school or work contacts.
    - Ability to have mutiple contacts join in on the same chat for group chat, akin to creating ur own chatroom with private and public chat window would be really COOL in my opinion.

Keep up the good work, i will be introducing digsby to friends for sure, am very happy with it after 1 month. I just hope Digsby continue to be a lightweight and user friendly app as it's already is.. Cheers.
  • nice site this blog.digsby.com nice to see you have what I am actually looking for here and this this post is exactly what I am interested in. I shall be pleased to become a regular visitor :)

Please add studivz support and i will switch to Digsby.
  • Rob
Reminder on a feature I suggested a ways back: provide a way to conduct a Twitter DM conversations with another Twitter user in a (threaded) chat window just like it was an IM session. Would be really handy and far as I know, nobody has implemented something like it...

Almost all of my buddies are using Skype. So I would cry with happiness to see Skype support for Digsby! Please add Skype Support!!!
  • Sly
    John,

Yea... i agree there should be a better option for people who want to use digsby and for whatever reason can't upgrade immediately. I'm sure they'll find a resolution to that at some point.
  • i want blogs service
  • ++Linux
  • John Sullivan
    Sly,

That was the problem. The Download button on their site did not link to the current version. As soon as I installed, it tried to update again (which does not work in Linux).

I did eventually find link to the most current version in a forum. This does not help the typical user nor does it help at all those who do not have administrator privileges on their machines. If Digsby is going to disallow older versions from operating, there needs to be a little more notice than *starting right now*....
  • jtsv89
can't wait for a lower CPU usage tweak! Digsby is awesome :)

In reply to Yonah, if you're argument is that you can just use WINE then surely your argument would hold for Mac users as well who can also use WINE. So how about not bothering to release Mac and Linux versions at all because they can 'sort of' run it using WINE.
  • In my opinion, developers should add a authorization request in the context menu. Secondly, they should add a posibility to copy chat from the window "View Past Chats"
  • Sly
    hey john,

can't you just download the correct version from the digsby site itself? Obviously, this isn't ideal... but does that fix the problem...until the next update?
  • When will it be possible to read QIP and Miranda Away Messages...
And it´s still not possible to read the Away Messages from Digsby with QIP or Miranda...
    Greetz out of Germany...

Really wish offline MSN messages were enabled...

I hate receiving messages when I'm away from my computer, then finding that person is offline and I can't even reply, and have to wait till they're online again.

    Need MSN offline!!! PLeeeeeeaaaase!
  • merci pour tout :-)
    Thanks for all :-)

YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SHUT OFF AUTOUPDATE!!! THIS BREAKS THE APPLICATION FOR PEOPLE RUNNING ON LINUX UNDER WINE AND PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE ADMINISTRATIVE PRIVILEGES ON THEIR WINDOWS MACHINE!!!

Once again, I can't use Digsby on my Linux PC because your download link is apparently not the current version and the application is stuck in autoupdate
  • Qesuni
    mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  • Steven
Skype support would make me very, very happy!
  • I Love You Digsby.
  • delete emails from accounts like hotmail still does not work yet - goes off the list but when you log in again, there they are - not being removed from server it seems.
  • Mastermind
Please, can you finally fix icq user adding and authorization requests? I mean buttons authorize and ask for authorization, and also contacts which are not authorized by me or I by them can be highlithed or something like that. Also, when are you planing to add iconized icq xstatuses? And is last.fm and skype support possible? Thanx :).
  • Great site this blog.digsby.com and I am really pleased to see you have what I am actually looking for here and this this post is exactly what I am interested in. I shall be pleased to become a regular visitor :)

I, too, would really like to see the AIM side fixed up in regards to being able to bold/italicize/underline/color/highlight just the selected portions of a message, as opposed to the entire message as is currently the case. The inability to do this is frustrating.

Also, italicized messages do not seem to appear in the actual chat window of sent and received messages, nor the logs, at all. They’re only italicized in the input area where you’re currently typing your message.

Please fix this! Otherwise, I’m loving Digsby.
  • maxxess
Digsby is my choice for MSN, ICQ and Yahoo. It is simply great.
BUT.. There is always a but? Why o why can one not search chat history? Currently history is organized on a day to day basis. It is impossible to find the message you are looking for. Please make history SEARCHABLE.

I know MSN isn't much better but I come frome Miranda and kind of got used a lot of features -- one of them was searching through history.
  • gcstang
Really really want a chat feature for MSN and Linux
  • Wow! Thank you so much for listening! So happy I can run from a portable device now!
  • Igor
A portable version, add-ons, support for Last.fm and vkontakte.ru (well, the last one is the most improbable, but if you enable add-ons...)
  • Paul
Let's put some things in perspective here guys. I'm sure we'd all like to see these new and extra things such as different IM networks... group chats... little tweaks like changing the systray icon. But come on.

No seriously. Come on. Digsby staff, let me get the disclaimer out of the way: great job, don't bite the hand that feeds me, it's free... yadda yadda.

Anyway, since you're "shifting gears" to features... how can you add more stuff that will complicate the program when so much basic functionality is STILL missing?

    1) It's been said a thousand times: inline formatting. This is a no brainer. I would actually go so far as to say as the way it functions now, it is not only missing, it's broken. I highlight a word and press bold, and the whole message goes bold. Nobody can tell me that's "expected" behavior.

    2) No full log search. Why do I even have logs? I can't copy and paste out of them either. What good is this to me? I can browse by past history and relive conversations, one by one. How sentimental. So if I know I sent my buddy a link, I can go day by day, trying to do a "find" for it... and when I do find it, I can... open up that HTML file and get it, or retype the link all over again into my IM window. Lame.

Direct connect, collapsing the mail section... all these added functions would be great... but if you can't search or format text... I'd say that should be a LITTLE more important.

P.S. My yahoo avatar still shows up as a black box, to anybody on the standard Yahoo client. Still. Did I say still?
  • Zachary Love
I would love it if we could have voice chat along with everything else, That would make Digsby THE PERFECT IM application.
  • Bradleycorn
    GROUP CHAT!!!!!!!
  • Yonah
To hell with Linux! Digsby is great, but still needs some work before it becomes solid gold. Put all your time into the Windows version because we are the largest user group. Period. After the Windows version is mature, then consider Mac but don't bother with Linux. Let them try to run it with WINE. It probably won't work as good, but then maybe.... just maybe they will stop lying to people about how great WINE really is. Linux users are jerks. Let them get what's coming to them after years of lies and trolling.

Something I would really like to see (if possible) is a version developed for Linux. I'm currently a Windows user, but I will soon be (at least) dual booting with Linux (Ubuntu specifically) for various reasons. After an okay experience with Pidgin, which is the reason why I switched over to Digsby to try something new (and fell in love with it), I am lamenting the fact that there is no Linux equivalent of Digsby. I would be willing to use Pidgin, but I've seen Pidgin in Ubuntu and the features (or lack thereof compared to the Windows version) makes me not entirely happy about it.
  • Richard
    Great work, love Digsby!
  • Corion
    In order of preference:
    1. Group Chat
    2. Multiplatform (Mac, Linux) support
    3. Better Buddy List management (option for tabs/windows based on accounts, Digsby buddy list which doesn't effect AIM/Gtalk/ICQ/etc. account lists but contains contacts from them, etc)
    4. Features included in official clients but not yet in Digsby
    5. RSS Reader (and/or Google Reader integration somehow)
  • Lester Forbes
If Only you guys could add an RSS feed reader, Then Digsby would be THE perfect package
  • Good news! I like digsby :)
  • Chris Wyatt
    LINUX AND MAC!
  • Features Requests:

    + Support for Skype chat
+ Better chat log history search
+ Working file transfers for AIM (most seem to time out)
+ Ability to make words bold or italic, without making the whole line that way

I can think of many others but something tells me you've got more than enough feature requests.

    Thanks
  • Haggie
    Sametime support please!
  • Ravi
I want the groups that I have in various accounts (like I have abt 10 groups in my Yahoo account) to be syncronised and shown as well.
  • AJ
    Awesome news guys, can't wait!
Biggest wishes I'd like to see (please please please!)

    - Status indicator in system tray
    - Ability to HIDE IM's WHILE AWAY. this is the only thing keeping me from using Digsby on a more permanent basis.
  • I'd also like to join the chorus of voices asking pretty-please for a linux version. Hmm... You know, it's already so feature rich it's downright decadent, but if I had to suggest anything I'd either propose including support for IRC or soup.io. :D
  • Todd
Great work, folks! I was an alpha tester and it's been working great.

    My wishes:
    Status indicator in system tray.
    Multiple user chat conversations.
  • nice digsby ! i love using digsby and i hope there is a MOBILE VERSION of digsby coming up !! ^^
  • jc7006
Oh, i think the addition of chatrooms in Digsby would be certain death at this time for your product, to many bots and booters in chatrooms. So if you do add them be sure everyone is protected from them...
  • jc7006
Digsby needs web cams, then i believe i would use your product. So keep improving looking good so far....
  • Hello

I love Digsby, but just switched my day time computer from PC to MAC and I cannot use it anymore. PLEASE do not let me forget about you guys...PLEASE MAKE A MAC VERSION.

I LOVE YOU DIGSBY. I WANT TO MAKE SWEET LOVE TO YOU INTEGRATED SOCIAL CLIENT--DO NOT MAKE ME LEAVE YOU!!!
  • Gary Lee
Really miss the ability to easily search past chats in log files the way Trillian does. Only major feature that causes me to miss Trillian as a Digsby user.

Also, cutting and pasting blocks of text from present and past chats must be easier.

I use IM for business - both of these are critical features, with the past-chat search ranked #1 for me.

    Thanks.
  • I want to know why every time Digsby loads now, it downloads the update EVERY TIME. Glitch there folks!
  • Sreenath Nair
Actually one thing which is lacking in digsby and ignored by every one is the "yahoo chat rooms" of Yahoo messenger. In This Digsby Release we can only chat with friends who had already been added in our friends list. But If We want to find new friends then again we have to rely on yahoo messenger, since chat rooms are available only in It.So It would be nice if digsby integrates this feature Of "Chat Rooms" In Its Future Releases.
  • ANGERMAX
I would like to see AIM buddy chat rooms integrated, as well as a Twitter add-on.
  • jack
The whackiest messenger ever! i could kiss all of you brothers and sisters! Keep it up! all thumbs up for the team!
  • rtjnyoface
I just wanted to say thanks to all the digsby folks. I can't explain how much I appreciate the work being done on this amazing piece of software all at one low price-nothing. Seems to me that this has become one of the examples of how cooperation and the desire to simply just do something for the sake of wanting to do it. I know the latest releases have adware in them (which I was able to circumvent by some means) which is needed a little bit to at least make some money. If I had an abundance of funds (or any extra really) I'd very, very gladly provide the digsby folks with some tangible means of appreciation. So, once again, thanks to all those who work or help the digsby group. :):):):):)
  • hernk
Hopefully digsby will be rich by more emoticon
  • i have a slow connection and always its really hard to connect to Gmail.
  • hernk
Yes, the CPU's memory consume is the main issue and hopefully next digsby will be able to make a confrence and many more.
  • George
Awesome, but We need the linux version, these realese will be the cherry on the great cake
many thanks and wonderfull job. :-)
  • Windows mobile would be my biggest request! Next would be Skype!
  • Erin
Wow you guys! Every issue i was having with digsby has been addressed. Keep up the awesome work!
  • pidgezero_one
I have been trying for months and months to get my contact info to save and have posted about it on the forums many times. Thank you so much for this fix!!! :)

    +1 Mac

Are file transfers supposed to work? I don't think I've ever had them work properly...

IRC/MySpace/Steam/Skype would of course be nice. And any Twitter features are quite welcome.

Mac version I think is the obvious highest priority. :)

    Great job guys!
  • David
Most wanted feature: chat rooms or group chat for AIM. Been waiting over a year for it. Hopefully we'll see it within the next few weeks?
  • engageent
    1.) IRC IRC IRC
2.) Auto-away when the computer is locked/screen saver is active.
  • Jay
it'd be nice to have a spot to enter a custom url/program to launch when clicking "Open Inbox" (or some derivative) for email accounts.
  • FRD
i have just 2 major requests (and one small) that i really would like (and that keeps me from making digsby my only IM client):

    - Google talk file transfer! now I allways have to open the google talk client when a friend wants to send a file

    - A function to search contacts like google talk/windows live messenger: just a searchbar at the top of the contacts that shows the contact when you type his name/adres

    - and maybe a localisation support for languages (for example dutch ;) )

I think those are my biggest requests :) but I really like digsby and I hope you keep up the good work, thx guys :)

    Linux version please!
Either that or remove "coming soon" on the download page. I think to most people, soon means within 3 months rather than within 2 years.
  • Stefan 93
It took 5 minutes for Digsby to start!!! Because he was checking for updates, and for that time he downloaded about 5-6 KB.
  • I love Digsby. My one gripe is not being able to copy/paste from the chat log. Also, have urls linked from there would be awesome.

A lot of times someone will send me a link that I need to go back to a few days later. With no copy/paste and no clickable links, I have to re-type the url letter-for-letter, which can be a disaster when it's something like http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Amazons-Wireless-Reading-Generation/dp/B00154JDAI/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1238607424&sr=8-1
  • VerSuS
Nice Work!! Finally the avatar pictures works fine in the conversation windows!!

Now, it will be nice too if you work on the File transfer system, cause it´s very poor at this time, and maybe digsby + Lastfm??

    Anyway Congratulations!
  • +1 on the better, persistent Twitter interface. If I get more than 1 Twitter at a time, I have to move my mouse over to click the left and right arrows. The whole goal is to avoid moving my hands from what they're currently working on.

    Keep up the good work.
  • Great news. I persisted using it despite some bugs bedcause I am one of the unfortunates with a Vista 64-bit that nothing works with, it seems, but I have been using Digsby despite some small, occasional and irritating bugs that mostly are ALREADY gone!

So the fact that you have upgraded Digsby is great. I would even pay for it. That's how much I like it.
  • Schley
    DIGSBY is the BEST.

    To make it even better...

    1. add an "Always Appear Online" to the individual Stealth Settings

    2. disable Pop Up Notifications during full screen apps (games)
  • christina
I'm rather impressed by Digsby. While there are a lot of features I'm missing (invisible and SMS through Google talk doesn't work) I still prefer Digsby over ANY chat service I've used (and yes, I've used a lot) I hope that Digsby continues to improve and starts implementing some of those features. Until then- I'm glad to say it is my favorite. (and I'm slowly converting my friends)
  • manal
je veux Digsby en français et merci
  • Tim
    Oh yeah, and +skype support
  • Tim
How about alternate, AIM-like smileys. I don't like that it turns the heart into a smiley. I think there's another one I don't like too...but being able to choose from like three or four sets of them would be nice.
  • Hey gripers...
If you have a problem with Digsby, either respectfully request features or -- don't use it! Simple as that. No need for the rude comments I have seen here!

    :)

    Feature Requests:
    +1 for Mac
and +1 for the Twitter req's like persistent window, customizable icons for multiple accts, RT, etc..

    Thanks for an awesome app!
  • Javier
Excellent, Thanks for the release, guys!
  • James
    Mac version for sure
  • Nicole
    Please Please Please...Digsby Mobile version!
  • Jahzara
Not duplicating contacts in different groups and the option to delete a group without deleting contacts. Also, I think there's a bug with blocking people. I've blocked several people and it didn't say it blocked them. I blocked someone on AIM and they still saw me and were able to msg me.
  • Jan
    Linux version pls!
  • Jen
It would be nice if you could copy and paste picture files directly into chats (like you can with MS Groove).
  • James
Would really love to have Digsby for MAC \ Linux machines.
  • patrick
it would be great if you could tether digsby with pandora...just saying.
  • Tony
I would also like to know when a chat feature will be available.
  • Joe Austin
    Hello,

First off, I love your product and promote it when I can.

Second, is it possible to have an option when right-clicking on the Digsby icon in the system tray to send an IM from there?

This way, we don't have to clutter our desktop with the Buddy List all day long. I prefer Digsby over AIM, but this is one feature that I use all the time and would like to see it implemented.

    Thank you!
  • I have been dying just waiting for the Mac version. I use Digsby at work but can't use it at home and it is KILLING me!! :)
  • Blayne
    MAC Version!
  • Vu
Is there anything to resolve Firewall issues with Gtalk and MSN similar to what you've done with AIM and ICQ. I never managed to connect to Gtalk and MSN when I am at work but no issues with AIM what so ever.
  • Better Twitter support, support for syncing tweets to your status messages for AIM/YIM and everything else, automatically.

Like... I'll post a tweet to twitter, and my status will change thanks to digsby.
  • marcelo echiburú

Add hyperlink button in chat windows? Right now there isn't any way to actually insert a link...
  • DigsbyFan
Can you PLEASE include the system tray notification of a new message instead of having it pop-up or display in the taskbar. Trillian has this feature and many have requested it here in the Request Forum. I think that would really bring users that chat at work to use Digsby!!
  • Great client, guys! Have been using for almost 4 months and not a glitch. I've recommended to all my friends, posted about on Myspace and Facebook. Many of my friends have started using and are amazed at how great this client is. Keep up the great work!!
  • Would love to see filters and alerts based on keywords. I really like Digsby but it would be easier to track conversations with these 2 additions.

I checked to see if I have the upgrade Help>About> and it shows Build 20700. When will the upgrade kick in or do I need to downloand?
  • Janine
its a great feature if you'll put the long requested conference room for yahoo messenger users. :D

    well nice job. ;)
  • Thanks for the update. I love digsby!

I would like a way to clear IM chat windows. Right now the only way to clear the IM window would be to disable IM logging in the preferences and then close/reopen the IM window when you want it cleared. Pidgin has a "Clear Log" feature using CTRL + L or Menu > Clear Log.

I find it really useful at work when a nosy coworker wanders by or a friend IM's you something they shouldn't when the boss is right over your shoulder.
  • Bryan
How about group chat on Digsby?!?!?!?!

How about group chat on Digsby?!?!?!?!

How about group chat on Digsby?!?!?!?!
  • I would like to see built in support for IRC, so I can dump mIRC (i dont need nnscript or other fancy shit any more, just the basics is fine. nickserv authentication, maybe fav channels it connects to automatically..).

Another great improvement would be if people using Digsby can invite people in a MSN conference room.
  • Gustavo Seguin
Can u put the personal picture??? I think that is the only thing that digsby doesn´t have...
  • Knad
    Great work :)

    Would love to see:
    - Linux Support
    - Skype support
    - Faster loading of Twitter information (seems to show facebook stuff, then load twitter infomation on top :S )
  • avi
    hello
  • Arun
    Thanks for a wonderful application.

    Features required:
    1. Orkut (social networking app) integration - more than a million Indians and Brazilians use Orkut.
    2. Sametime protocol compatibility.
    3. Option to hide/show the popup window (even the chat window. Let it appear in the task bar. example: please refer to Miranda)

Option 3 is highly required since we use Digsby at work and we don't want other to know that we are chatting. :-)
  • Seth
Multi Person Chat Windows (like AIM / MSN) already do in their own native apps.
  • Sony Gunarso
    Great job....
When Digsby mobile for cellular phone is available, I hope very soon. Thanks...
  • Arjun
    @ Digsby - with ref to ur reply on March 31, 2009 @ 12:54 pm :-

When a status is set from the status drop down menu, all the IM accounts that are logged in simultaneously gets the same status.

I requested a feature to set individual statuses for different IM accounts. I suggest that the best way to do it would be to have a right click option on the IM account tab and have an option to set the status for that particular account only.

Right now the available options when you right click on the IM account tab are : Edit, Disconnect, My Account Info and My Web Profile. Adding a feature to set the "status"(extended drop down menu) in this list itself would help.

Also, it will be great if the current status message is displayed instead of a static "Online"(when connected) or "Offline"(when disconnected).

It could display Busy when set to Busy or Invisible or any custom status messages as well.
  • Adrian
    1.) IRC, please!

    2.) Please don't interrupt (minimize) full-screen games!

    3.) Group chat!

    4.) See #1!

your product is amazing. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see IRC chat on the roadmap. It's the only feature that I really miss from Trillian.

    thank you for your efforts.
  • Melicerte
    Unix version pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase....
  • m4fF1n
Very nice! love digsby. You could fix Group chats=), I love to see less use of CPU first though=)
  • VTran
    Thanks for Digsby,
    my suggestion of improvement

Offline friend should not be separated from their original group. It make user easier to find their offline or invisible friend

Currently, all offline user is grouped under offline.
  • ShortBus
xbx: I agree, I would like to be able to customise the toaster/notifications. I find the time delay annoying. It is too fast to disappear for me, and I would like to be able to close the popup. When I click on it, it takes me to the web page for twitter instead of disappearing. I want both.
  • mr_cold
This app is fantastic but please make it portable :o)
  • lailalolo
    it is very very good
  • Ahsan Raza
    Good work guys
  • lory
The "Listening to..." status STILL displays that annoying link which can't be removed. And this was one fix requested quite a lot of times!
  • con
hmm the build version in help about Digsby does not match the numbering scheme in the announcements.

    Digsby - Build 20700 ?
  • Mac, Mac, Mac....

I know many people using Windows and Mac platform (including myself) and it drives me mad using other setups when i use my Mac.

So... forget PC features (many of them are more gimmick than features) and get working on the Mac client.

    BTW I Love Digsby !!!!!
  • Saurav
    I like everything about Digsby.
One feature, that I would like is that it should not update the version at the startup. Instead, there should be a pop-up saying, new version available and leave it to me i.e. I can update later.
  • ugaw
    MAC version!
  • >reSPAWNed
My two greatest requests are: Mac version and Skype support.
  • Dan Cristian
Find functionality is very poor, find on the fly when typing is basic. Again I have hundreds of users and cannot find users having the same first name or users that are in collapsed groups. How can a matture product not have a Find functionality in Menus?

Hierarchical Groups Support on Jabber server is needed for corporate usage. I have hundreds of users grouped in several nested groups so my roster looks really big & flat.

    Very good product otherwise!
  • I absolutely LOVE Digsby. It is an excellent program with the most excellent features, and I am so glad that I stumbled upon it. I will definitely be using this program for the rest of my net years. Keep up the wonderful work!!!
  • Rahul Arora
I am a new fan of Digsby !!! Thanks for the good work.
  • Vic
Would be nice if I could actually log on after the update. Apparently my account is now invalid. I've even changed the password and the like.

Going from working to not working seems to be an issue. Otherwise, it's alright (the version before the update that borked it). Proper chat management would be nice.
  • hello every boy please get friend ship with me on these email address

    thanks
  • Ayoma Wijethunga
Ya,,, Digsby is the best!! I really need Skype support, as most of us does. For now I have to run Digsby and Skype both in the same time. Please give us a solution. I love to see a Symbian version of Digsby too..

    Great work team.
    Keep it up...
  • integration for xing.com would be great!
  • Kamran
salute & congratulations to digsby team.it's a very useful multi messenger, but sometimes getting error connections at linkedIn & pop3 mail at inmail24 account in start up.i need zorpia social network in digsby too.so far that's all, thank U so musch & good luck to U.Digsby The Best :)
  • whyxhello
i agree, CPU usage / stability = TOP PRIORITY
  • I've loved digsby since the first day I laid eyes on it, and found that it was already the most efficient on system resources than any other IM app out there that I've seen. Now CPU improvements on the way?? AWESOME.

But as far as features go, I hope these don't put us into a mode of hogging more resources than necessary. Maybe you can make it so that each section of additional features can be turned on or off so they don't take up more resources if they're not being used.

Also, I'd say google talk file transfers would be really really nice, so I don't have to open gtalk every time somebody on there sends me something.
  • Naco
great job guys. most of my friends are huge fans as well, especially considering how the new AIM seems to hog more and more system resources with each passing day.

same concern as day one though...we really need in-line formatting. all the new features you're rolling out are great for additional functionality and convenience, but in-line formatting is integral to the communication itself. when you're unable to selectively emphasize your thoughts, it's almost like losing a few letters from your keyboard.

ok maybe it's not that bad, but i'm sure you guys get the idea.
  • Yay! Now hopefully work on IRC integration can start.
  • Still Cant Use Yahoo IM behind a proxy which is only alowing port 3128 :(
  • Nice work pls do keep it up
hope next time we shall be able to use web cam facilities
  • kit
i hope digsby can come up with "conference" feature between friends in different messengers.....
  • Nathan
Support for Skype. At least the chat function.
  • Frostfire
Isn't there a conference feature or have i just missed it??
  • Skype too.
  • Online archiving of past chat messages so it syncs all pcs.
  • Buntu
    need a Ubuntu Version pleeease..
  • I tested alpha,
    so I'm happy about Digsby..!
    Keep up good works guys!
I like to test next alpha version too....
  • Umair
I would like to get blogspot integrated with Digby. I think that would be wonderfull
  • Asad Malik
i would like to say "the best".
  • Jessica Helterman
I think the ability to use my webcam and and mic with digsby would be awesome!!
  • bsds
Digsby is the best! :) Skype text chat support and windows mobile version pls :P.
  • xbx
    How about an iPhone version?
  • TheBox
--Settings for the toaster/notifications. Time delay, transparency, size, information, location, etc.

--Settings in general, I love settings, more the better.

    Thank you good work
  • Michael
The one thing I'd like to see is the ability to have a separate window for each IM account - that way I could have all YIM conversations in one window, all MSN conversations in another window, etc. Keeps things a bit more organized.
  • Derrick LeBrocq
I just one X-Fire. To talk to my friends who use it. I don't need it to have the in game overlay...it always annoyed me anyway. I just want to be able to talk to my friends on XFire with Digsby, and see what they're playing and where. Its the only reason I still keep pidgin around.
  • Dan Spears
Something I would love to see you implement is the ability to adjust the appearance of the notification popups, more specifically being able to turn off the fading etc. Using Digsby in a Remote Desktop session is a major pain because every time a popup is triggered, it causes lag something fierce.
  • love digsby! :) allready got a dozen friends to start using it by the end of the year will have a few hundred more I'm sure ;)

two features that are lacking that are killing me are:

    1. Broadcast [send one message to many friends]
    2. Chat [have multiple friends messaging each other in a group]
  • Shushil rajthala
how about linking with Hi5 and tagged it would be a great relief from opening extra 2 windows and how about dispalying how many spams we got in our mailbox too you see most of us have redirected the facebook notification to spam
  • Dave Thompson
I want a plugin to get "toasts" on my XBMC.. so Plugins!
  • oh. and great job on this app. been using it for two months and lovin' it.
  • skype please
  • BbeS
Ooops meant to say Windows Mobile
  • Luke
"We’re also improving the reliability and speed of file transfers."

Wonderful! Excellent work fixing Hotmail, and looking forward to future releases. World class program, this. :)
  • BbeS
An app for iPod Touch and iPhone & PC Mobile Phones would be great.
  • eduardoperte
Why Dingsby don`t have a "buzz" ???? It can be PERFECT with that !
  • Victor
    one moar thing,

I often have problems with the video chat, whenever I'm using it digsby is prone to crashing if I do something too hastily. I dunno if you guys cleaned that up in this build, but that's just my experience in the past builds.
  • Victor
I've noticed that the chat lags if you're using a fancy conversation skin and the chat runs too long. Maybe an option that allows you to set a limit to how many lines a chat can go up to?
  • Congratulations!
  • opixx
    Terima kasih atas service nya
moga tetap update and tentunya Gratisss... trusss..
    :)
  • thwade
The one functionality this doesn't have that all other IMs I have used do not have the functionality to add a person to a conversation. At work this is needed and I am very suprise Digsby doesn't have it.

A nice to have but not required is now playing that works with the ZUNE.
  • Shoeb Ahmed
The mark as read function has started to work once I re-updated Digsby, so I guess _someone_ is reading these comments.

However, inbox for various Hotmail accounts simply doesn't open the respective Hotmail inbox unless I sign out from the old Hotmail account and update the cookie, I guess.

It used to work earlier. If I was reading email on H123@hotmail.com, and close the tab instead of signing out and then via Digsby want to check inbox on Name.Lastname@hotmail.com, it won't sign me in directly and would give me a Hotmail page error "We couldn't sign you in" or something unless I go back to www.hotmail.com, which would go straight to the inbox of H123@hotmail.com, and then sign out and then try via Digsby to go into Name.Lastname@hotmail.com. It would then work. Earlier, it didn't require the sign out.

    Please to be fix, kthx.
  • Anthony Sapien
Would really like to see the status bar icon change color or somehow let you know whether you are in the available or away state.

One solution would be for the Digsby guy's shirt or hat color to change. Or he could close his hat over his eyes.

Currently, we have to hover over the left side of the window to check.

    Thanks!
  • pxd
Yeah, by the way, group chat is needed!!
  • pxd
Great job, keep it up!! Salutation!!!
  • Meh
    -Group Chat
    -Skype
    -IRC
    -Mobile thumb drive version
    -RSS feeds
-Jabber working properly with secure networks
  • A
    thanx. looking forward
  • henhen
Wondeful Workk!! Soo happy to have it in Windows..
    hehehe...
  • davis
is there any chance that digsby will be compatible for the g1 phone?
  • Great job once again. However, could we please please PLEASE have inline formatting? It's frustrating to have to apply formatting to the whole message/profile or none of it.
  • Samson
MSN Custom Emoticons - I would like to see proper MSN custom emoticons handling, option to allow/disallow Digdby sending over custom emoticons over the other end, currently this is not available and only the local Digsby side see custom emoticons i.e. your friends will never see what you want them to see!

Gmail Feature - After open a Gmail message to read, please also provide an optin to "Delete" the "read" message, currently no such option, only "Reply" is available, to delete a currently "read" message you need to open another windows to the Gmail Inbox and delete from there.
  • tajar
yo the only thing i want added would be different sounds for different buddies...not sure if it can already be done but would like it
  • Dandy
Please get a search on the list. It's very helpful. Thx!
  • Ardi
I think it's good idea to make digsby mobile ;)

    hmmm... i hope :)
  • Thank god, someone else thinks this is important.

The most needed features to include, in my opinion are:
    1) Individual buddy alerts
  • Congratulations!
    And many thanks!
  • Jennie
A seemingly simple enhancement that would improve the AIM functions would be to have bold, italics, and underline all able to be separated in one message. Much like the AIM client does and how many other clients do. As in, I’m typing an instant message, I want to bold one word or one letter even but not the entire message.
    ^^ I agree with this.
I would also like to suggest being able to display the history of the conversation I had with someone even after I exited their screen. This is an option that is offered on the newest version of aim and would appreciate it if occurred when I use aim on digsby.

I am also having some issue with sending files using digsby.
  • and I need to use in mobile, pls tell us how can we use it for mobile?
  • and I need to use in mobile, pls tell us how can we use it for mobile
  • can I use skype with digby? and how can I use?
  • JenniferT
Could you allow users to enter chatrooms on AIM?
    That would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
  • Tan Chee Yuan
Hi Thanks for all the hard works. I love to use digsby nowadays. ^^
  • Trav
I would like a feature such as aim 5.5's direct connect. It would let you send image files within the AIM window, which was very helpful to show images to friends vs sending them the entire actual image in a file or giving them a link.
  • rgriarte
great if we can include skype inside this digsby then we have an option too that all past messeges for all accounts also have then it would be very interesting and im sure evrybody loves it.........nice we really enjoyed this, well done folks
  • Jay
would really like to see a persistent twitter window as well. actually love digbsy but still use tweetdeck. what would be awesome is to see one client with ONE column to have your twitter and facebook feed. twitter tweets, RT's, DM's + facebook statuses ALL in one column..
  • SonZ
    Nice job Digsby Team.

Hopefully in the future digsby will more amending full.
  • cool!great job! :)
  • Glenn
I want to be able to...

    >make it so I can receive a notification ONLY when certain people come online. I want to know when a few select friends get on AIM or Ichat.

    >bold, italicize, and underline individual words.

    >have a group chat. (less important than the others)

    >see my full chat log. Trillian had a great system for this and whenever I needed to see something that I typed to someone a month ago (for example), I could click a button that would show me my entire history of conversations.

Another strange thing that I don't know if it is a bug or a problem on my end is when scrolling up to see past messages, some messages are empty. As in, it will show that a message was made but there will be no words. This happens a lot with links that people send me. When I look back to go to that link again, the space where the link should be is just that- a space where the link should be.
  • James
    * I'd love an "I am away until..." so that I can tell it what time I expect to be back and it will popup a reminder at that time asking me if I'm back.
  • Behzad K
Ever since my friend told me about Digsby i have been hooked. Its a great application. My only want is the want of many others - a Skype plugin would make this the ultimate IM app.
  • I've gotta go for the ability to make only PART of a message bold/italic/etc. I rely on this for emphasis, and it sucks to only do the entire message as bold or none of it.

    Thanks for all your work!
  • Cody
    one more... noticed it today.

earlier today I found that the wrong profile was being considered as the default for a contact theoretically added in a separate AIM profile.

have two AIM accounts listed in digsby ("zzz" & "x@x.com"), x@x.com is for my work, and zzz is personal. I have a work contact affiliated with x@x, and when I double clicked on the contact name, it started chatting with my zzz account. Not cool.

the suggestion: perhaps some way to affiliate a "default" for the instances where there are multiples of accounts or contacts across accounts?

    Thanks all,
    -cb
  • Cody
    another suggestion...

much like outlook has the ability to flag or delete a message from the pop-up-notification of a new message, it'd be great to manage incoming messages from their bubble notification too... Delete, Mark as Read, Flag, etc. would be fantastic.

    Thanks,
    -cb
  • Aaron
The 'Past Chat Browser' should be easier to search through. Aggregating logs for merged contacts across several protocols into one contact would be great. As would 'search across all/date range'.

(As it is, I need to remember which day and which protocol I was talking to someone on for search to be of any use.)
  • Build 51 has given me a nice fix that I appreciate every moment I'm using my PC—removal of Digsby in Taskbar. Doesn't sound like much but I appreciate that. Digsby is nobody and nobody's perfect! Oh, please roll out a chat widget that works on Wordpress.com hosted blogs. That would be the last piece of the puzzle for me!

DIGSBY, the missing link on http://shimworld.wordpress.com :)
  • Shoeb Ahmed
Stefan 93 is right, the hotmail mark as read/delete problems are not fixed.

They reappear as new about 1-2 minutes later after clicking mark as read.

    MAC VERSION!
  • poisonberry17
@marco (and everyone else asking for linux)

Digsby DOES work in Wine at this point. I have 1.1.8 (latest version of wine) on Ubuntu 8.10 and it runs great. the only bugs it has are (1)lack of the fancier GUI (which may or may not be Aero-only, i don't know) and (2) pop-up messages are not rounded and instead have an odd and large (though not huge) black box around them. you can just right click and clear those, though.

    A docklet for object dock/RK Launcher, like Adium(for XP/Vista).
that would change depending on your IM Status (Connecting, Idle, Available, ect.) And I Was Wondering if something like this could be made for Digsby As an Objectdock Docklet.
  • L2
Mac version please for my new mac! That and a search feature so I can search through my contacts. Thanks!
  • Lace
Yea this is awesome. But just one more problem I have is making file transfers to start with. It does not work and fails everytime. But other then that its great, and the updates are fantastic.
  • TCJ
    "Im listening [something with spotify/lat.fm]"

    I want that!

    Thanks!
  • Eric Germann
Add support for XMPP chat rooms. Then it's the holy grail of IM
  • Tim
The most needed features to include, in my opinion are:
    1) Individual buddy alerts
    2) Ability to add hyperlink in a message
    3) Ability to bold/italicize/underline any selection of a message instead of it applying to the whole message
    4) Viewing others' animated buddy icons as animated would be nice, too
  • Billy
Ability to have more than two rows of tabs in the chat window without scrolling - I use a small window and my friends like using long nicknames :s
  • Brian
    ++ Mac version
  • Fland
Out of 136 comments, at least 8 of them request that bold/italics/underline be fixed, let's make it happen!
  • fland
I totally agree with Mark. I mean it's pretty silly that this has gone unnoticed for as long as I've been using Digsby, which is since July of last year...

Yeah, and czech and polish letters - every time someone writes me with these letters, I get some chinese symbols :)
  • Darek
Feature req.: PLEASE, add gadu-gadu support, millions of Polish users use it, it would be so helpful!
  • Thanks. This version works a lot better for us.
  • John Goodwin
LOVE Digsby!!! How about A LINKEDIN connect? John
  • Bart
PLEASE, Mac version and OTR encryption. really, really, need those.
  • Stefan 93
It's checking for updates too long, maybe minute or even two!
  • Naggy
Stuff that I need the most (i.e. the stuff without which I can't consider Digsby to be better than Adium):

    - Proper emoticon support: That means them displaying properly (even if there is no space between them and the previous/next word/emoticon...), with animation, receiving/copying custom ones (easily, please!) and oh, a switch to turn them on/off at will.

    - Different status/display picture per account: Seriously, I don't want to have to use he same display picture for every account I have, since I use them for different purposes and different people. Same goes for the statuses. It's annoying.
  • Gregor
I can't belive it- still no "when digsby starts, don't show main window, but stay in tray" option.

    other than that.. it's great:)
  • Chip
FULL chat log search, puhleeeeeeze! This is the only feature I miss from Trillian.
  • Oh yeah, can you make the notification windows smaller? Thanks!
  • Raffomat
    Skype support!!!
  • For a free service, you guys sure expect a lot!

Good job on the new version!

  • Thanks Digsby ... I love that the update was seamless and the improvements were right on. Great stuff :)
  • shortcut keys please.
  • Carlos
Thanks so much for the hard work the digsby team puts foward to update this program. As far as features, i believe the most demanded one is webcam support to use with other protocol users.
  • Bruno Freitas
    Indeed, excellent work guys!

I used trillian for a long time, but Disgby is a lot better than Trillian, now.

The integration with mail and messenger is awesome!

Keep this and add more, and you'll be the top 1 messenger in no time!
  • Anna!
fab, i get so excited on update days! as far as features...

    SKYPE!
    Live Journal and flickr!
    Last.fm?
Is there already an option for Digsby to run an RSS feed? I don't use RSS yet but i am thinking about starting, for certain blogs. Basically i want all my internets to go through digsby! haha.

And i have to agree with Mac version so I can make my sister use it.
Portable version for taking it with you on a flash drive? then i could use it at school.
  • Isaac
The thing I would like most would be a youtube channels added to social networks.
  • Volney Schweinsteiger
Have people needs a one version of digby in other languages. I need digsby in portuguese, for example.
  • Termx
Some more other messenger support. Maybe a "universal" messenger support where the user types in the server , login, password, ect and can connect universably to any server. Just some thoughts, Thanks!
  • Great..!!
  • Don
If you have to copy Adium, you might as well make sure that the message window styles are also copied. Make them customizable. The incoming message fonts are TOO BIG and there is no way to control them. The only control is for your own outgoing message fonts. That is kinda disappointing.
  • mloranger
    P.S.
Make it faster - takes forever to load. (We'll see if this new vesrion is better...)

It's great if you managed to make it take fewer resources.

    -Skype integration, if possible

-The ability to choose whether or not to log chats per contact, Not just all on or all off.

-Grouped/tabbed chat windows by contact group, ie: Work, Family, Friends, etc. Not just all in one grouped/tabbed window or all separate.

-Copy & paste chat logs from history, not having to open the HTML file.

    THANKS! love Digsby. Love it.
  • Steam, Xfire, and full-screen game chat overlay!
Oh my god I want to have access to my AIM while in game.

Also... maybe I'm just missing something here, but when I want to bold/underline/italicize certain words.. I can't. It's all or nothing for the text box, and that's not fun. :(
  • shoaib
    lol.
  • shoaib
    hi.
  • alwaro
Linux and Mac versions pleasssseeeeeee!!!!!! this is the best soft that i used for mail+im+twitter all in one but i use Linux or Mac all the time excepts in my work. My mother´s computer has a Win XP because she use digsby!!! ONLY one reason and it´s that there isn´t version for Ubuntu.

    Please, we need it .

PD. Sorry for my english if itsn´t very good i´m more spanish than paella, toros and siesta togehter :-D
  • Samantha
I still think that you should put up a picture display for Digby users to have pictures like they have on Yahoo and MSN. That way when we chat others can see our picture.
  • Jim-Bob
Love the new update and stuff, but I STILL say that the one thing Digsby is truly missing is compatibility with Windows Media Player. I for one don't favor iTunes, but it's the only player I have that works with the "listening to" status...

All I want are those CPU updates you guys mentioned and compatibility with Media Player... then life is goooooood... :)
  • Umiss
    Thanks for your hard work!
  • Joy
Can you please fix the problem with file transfers? I tried at several times to transfer file in Digsby to my friends but all the time, it says "Connecting..." but never transfers successfully.

P.S. The problem occurs mostly with AIM
  • Anork
Thanks for the updates! One thing that bothers me is that for some reason, I can not make myself invisible in Google Chat. Is this a problem on my end or a bug?
  • FranklinP
I would like to see the integration of twitter a little better. For example; the ability to have the screen for it always show on your desktop in like a widget fashion .. Other than that, the rest is going great ..
  • Robert
Please consider adding group chat / persistent chat room support. This one feature keeps several thousand people at my company from switching over (solely) to Digsby. Thanks.
  • Pretty cool updates!

For the future, I think it would be cool to control notifications per account on who logs on and off. I would like to know when my AIM buddies get off and on, but not my facebook buddies.

    Thanks!
  • Highlighting large blocks of text is a little weird in Digsby. For example, my friend and I were helping each other with programming homework, and sometimes we'd have to send each other the whole program--not large, but maybe like 60 lines of text. But highlighting those 60 lines to copy/paste can be impossible, because for some reason, while highlighting text, the window will not scroll. If what I want rolls off the window, I cannot highlight it. I can maximize the chat window then see if I can display the whole block there to highlight, and that will be okay, but sometimes that's not enough, and then we have to revert to file transfers. I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but it's annoying when simply copying conversations, too; I have to go to the actual html file in the logs, and copy it from Firefox. I get this not-scrolling problem in Digsby's log viewer too.

Before Digsby and Pidgin, I used Miranda IM for a while, and as buggy as that was I fell in love with how customizable it was--how I could add/take out components of the conversation like their screenname, the date, seconds, the incoming/outgoing icon. You could even force set the font of incoming messages. I set it up so that incoming messages were big and dark and mine were small and green, and no screennames were shown at all (redundant because I know who I'm talking to, it's in the title). It was so efficient. It would be really cool if I could have those features in Digsby.

Sorry about the long comment. I tend to be overdetailed sometimes. Keep up the good work! Hoping you don't go the way of Trillian like one skeptic friend warned me... I hope you always stay free :P
  • Again, thank you for this wonderful application !
  • dan
    a linux version
  • Mary
Are you gonna add myspaceIM to the list of supported IM accounts?
  • Kumar Challa
    Hello there!

First and foremost, let me thank you for such a great application! I can't express the increase (or decrease? - depends on your prospective)in productivity from your application!

I would like to request a new feature in digsby. Support for the social networking site orkut (from google). Is it possible to implement? Thanks for reading!

    Kumar
  • I'd like it if you could use AIM chat - it's the only thing missing from this proggie. Everything else I absolutely love!
  • Revanth
Servers down? Even local mode is not working for any of the protocols.
  • Warchylde
Would it be possible to include track playing with songbird as a status please.
  • Jack
I still cannot find a reason to leave Digsby and/or use a separate Twitter client. Digsby just simply rocks.

Here are some minior things I'd like to see:

    * Minimze/hide the main window when ESC is hit.
    * Better "control" over the popup and behaviour of conversation/message list for accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. It is sa bit annoying and other accounts popup accidentally if the mouse hovers over the them. I don't know exactly how to best define what would be ideal but something needs to change at some point.
  • Eric
With all due respect to the other worthy feature requests, please support group chat initiation & chatrooms. This is a huge functional hole in an otherwise very attractive product.
  • Cody
I'd also love to see a myspace chat functionality to bring all the worlds of chat under one roof.

also, any thoughts towards a 64 bit edition?
  • Having proper group chat support (i.e., seeing who's in a chat, unlike now where you have to find out) would be great.

Also, for power users, being able to set icons for different Twitter accounts would be nice (I have two running and it's hard to tell which is which at a glance).
  • dante
    Linux port please.
  • Medj
    - Start Digsby minimized when windows starts.
    - Status notification in the taskbar to show away/busy/online status.
  • Ribos Radagast
Great job with Digsby lately, I alpha-test and recommend it to all of my friends.

The only reason I still use other chat clients (Google Talk) is that they have multi-person chat, and Digsby doesn't...just fix that and we'll be golden :)
  • Windows Mobile version, please. I'm tired of everyone jumping on the iPhone bandwagon first.
  • Stephen
@Stefan 93 - You can already turn off notifications when running a full screen application. You'll find that option in the preferences under the status tab.
  • Pablo
Guys, you're doing GREAT! Keep it up.

Now, there's one thing I am desperate about and would LOVE to see with Digsby: A RSS Feed Notification app

Tell me what you think about that
  • I'd like to have Stocktwits added to social networks!!
Keep up the good work and second the motion on Skype
  • Taylor
there are a number of instances, when using the facebook chat, that I do not receive messages through Digsby, and people on the actual facebook page do not receive my messages. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it would be nice if it was fixed!

and I agree with Miri! I'd love skype on here!!!
  • Ryan
    SKYPE!!

i second miri in that i'd love to skype as one of the additions for the next digsby. i've tried to use the video feature before but it hasn't worked yet....can you only use it for digsby to digsby clients?
  • eric
I think everyone might as well give up on the mac version... I am sure it will be out eventually but it's quite obvious that it is not a priority. The windows version is nice but only works on the computer I rarely use...
  • Sharif
Thank you, keep up the hard work!!
  • Thanks so much for the update.
    Bravo Digsby !!
  • Chase
I would love for it not to show up in the task bar either. Just show as a mini icon in the bottom right.
  • Mike Wilson
Please add the ability to create private chat rooms.
  • * Linux!
    * Skype
    * A better search contact option!
  • Godfrey
I think it would be a good idea to add Twitter into Digsby.
Also, better compatibility with MSN functions would be nice.
  • Johnney
yes, add skype..it's all that misses to make it a perfect program. And do something about the webcam feature, it doesn't work with people from the yahoo list.
  • Mr. Bold
How about the ability to ctrl+i or ctrl+b to italicize or bold individual letts/words at a time like every other application that handles text that has ever been created?
  • Tina
Linux/Mac support and conferences would be EPIC, wouldn't be a need for any other IM client
  • HackMyHeart
Oh yeah, I'd also love individual alerts for buddies, both for one session and permanently.
  • Mike
Group chat is a must already!

    Thank You :)
  • Making the "Listening to..." actaully sync with media players.
News skins, or making them more customized on the user's end.GGet
    Get sponsored by Mozilla.
    Mobile Digsby.
  • HackMyHeart
I would LOVE for text effects (italics, bold, etc) to only be applied to the text that is currently highlighted, both in instant messages and in buddy info. Also, being able to go mobile when you sign off/go into offline mode/go invisible would be excellent. These are the only two things I miss from using an actual client versus Digsby.
  • Folorunso Davies
    Great Job Guys !!!!

When are you adding PerfSpot? its growing fast!
  • I really love Digsby! Thanks for all your work on it.

Skype chat integration would be awesome.

Getting support added for IM-History (www.im-history.com) would complete the feature set, in my opinion.
  • Mike
I would like an integration with Picasa, like new photos added etc
  • s00pcan
still no bolding parts of messages? Joke im client. I regret switching to it.
  • Miri
please please add skype!!!! this would make digsby my highest rated favored - loved program in the whole internet world
  • J Mil
I would love RSS support. If it's possible it would be great if there could be some kind of Google Reader integration. If there's time a simple "Tasks" (like Google Tasks) would be good too.
  • Joe
I still get duplicate AIM messages. Fricken amature night.
  • Stefan 93
You haven't fixed problems with Hotmail yet! Neither Mark as Read nor Delete work.
Can you make Digsby to stop showing those notifications while we have full screen application turned on?
  • The MAC version! Where is it?

Digsby's been out for quite a while and the demand for a Mac version is huge. Why is this not being worked on?
  • Isaiah
Better customizations of fonts and profiles, add font characteristics to some but not all text. Zune media player support. For windows 7 some kind of widget integration (digsby -> widget, not the other way around). Something similiar to IM notification window that would be permanent, always ontop and movable. so that it could be used while working, without switching windows. also, movable notifications, so you can move them out of the way of something behind them.
  • Thomas
That's great, but how about you not FORCE an update on us? On top of that it pops up a box with no warning which wreaks havoc when I'm in the middle of typing something. Local version is the first step in making Digsby less controlling, but there's a long ways to go.
  • liberborn
    add Vkontakte.ru please
  • Pieplay
The social site netlog is my first request for integration into digsby because they havn't got anything as decent as digsby for interface, (and because it's europe's largest social site)
  • Matt Tuggle
    -Linux Version of Digsby.

-My suggestion for a feature addition would be intergration for the Gaia Online social network.
    http://www.gaiaonline.com/
  • How 'bout synced logs between machines, that way I can see the last conversation I had with the person, regardless of what machine I'm on?
  • start digsby minimized. PLEASE!
  • Anthony
Could you guys maybe fix the issue you sometimes get when IM'ing with MSN which shows the other person typing when they're really not. It's incredibly annoying : (
  • Spike
    LINUX!!!
  • Greg Laabs
    Features:
STOP MAKING MY GAMES MINIMIZE WHEN I GET A MESSAGE
    In-line formatting in AIM
Individual buddy alerts, both one-time and permanent
Global hotkey to hide/show the buddy list
  • Sly
    Please add the following:
-Have Digsby icon in system tray display status (away, idle, available, etc).
-Add option for a shortcut key to show/hide buddy list and another one to show/hid active conversations.
-Add ability to have conversation skins do fade/animation effects such as Adium and to utilize most Adium conversation skins naively.
  • Love it on windows, and having it on linux would be great too
  • hatt
I just started using Digsby. I am very impressed! I’m glad I stumbled upon it. Wish I knew about it sooner.gr8 going...
  • And Before I start let me say I've researched all and tried most others similar to Digsby both Windows Laptop And Pocket PC/PDA applications. Digsby Is The Most/More Feature Packed IM/Email Client/Handler out there that covers more of the mainstream clients most people use. MySpace being the main reason I stick with Digsby.2 Things I would extremely like/love to see is Myspace Built in IM handler like Digsby Has 4 MSN & YAHOO. And a close second is Digsby Mobile. Where are You ???!!!...Keep Up The Excellent Work And the effort to keep DIGSBY FREE.!.!.!.!.!.!
  • Emanuel
An option to make contacts' font size the same as yours would be much appreciated (for protocols that don't send the font size - this stands out especially in the Satin theme, which defaults to a font size of '10px' rather than '10pt')
  • Aaron Wallentine
    Linux version, please! :D
  • Digsby
@Arjun: If you click the status dropdown and chose "Custom" you can set per-account statuses in there. Also, this one is a bit more hidden but if you right click the status orb on the buddy list instead of left clicking it you get a dropdown of status options beyond just Available and Away if you are logged into accounts that support more options.
  • When will I be able to make it so I can receive a notification ONLY when certain people come online? I asked about this in the forums long ago, people misunderstood and thought I wanted auto-messaging, naturally, the idea was lost.

This is important especially considering I don't give a damn about my Facebook friends logging on and off, especially given how often it happens, but I want to know when a few select friends get on AIM or Yahoo.

After using AIM, then Pidgin (And didn't YIM have it too?), Digsby will always seem somewhat crippled to me without this basic function.

(Not that I don't still use it exclusively now.)
    Cheers.
  • Jay
I like many others love this service. I'll be a digsby user for life, and have recommended it to well over 50 people. I like the others would like to see the ability to italic/bold/underline a specific word and not the entirety of the message. I'd also like to see a way to minimize/maximize the 'email' section, much like the button directly above it for chat services. I have roughly 7 email accounts set in digsby, work, home, other related, etc. It takes up a substantial amount of my digsby gui. I'd GREATLY appreciate a way to minimize those with an arrow up/down like the chat-services one directly above it.

Thank you for all your hard work.
  • I just started using Digsby. I am very impressed! I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Wish I knew about it sooner.
  • mail404
    Feature request..... HYPERLINKS!!!
  • Mark
    individual, permanent buddy alerts. :D
  • Chris
    Love it, thanks.

But would still love the ability to RETWEET in Twitter.
  • gringo
I would like to have a grid view in my contact list. Something like the new Synapse has ( http://synapse.im/images/screenshots/synapse-friends1.png )
  • Arjun
I want to suggest a feature : Individual Account Status.

Description : All IM accounts must have the facility to set their respective statuses separately & also remember the status between successive loads.

As of now Digsby allows IM accounts to be either in Online mode or in Offline mode, but Busy, Invisible & Away are also needed but, not currently present in Digsby. I'm sure many other users of Digsby would also need this feature.

I hope this feature is added in Digsby's next build.

Everything apart from that is brilliant in the current version of Digsby.

This is the best multiple IM & email account client in the world so far & I think adding the above feature will add a feather to Digsby's cap.
  • I'd like to see the status shown in the tray icon like msn does.

    Cheers!
  • I'd love Linux/Mac support.

You guys are awesome - thanks for the great product!
  • Digsby
@bubazoo: In Preferences, you can sort and group by service. Also, some conversation themes show the protocol in them so you can tell while chatting with someone.
  • Brent Bonet
    Mac Version.
  • that way, when I'm chatting with someone in digsby, I can tell if a user is an MSN user or a facebook user, them being mixed together in the same group like that gets confusing after awhile, so each medium NEEDS its own group in the contact list! especially social sites.
  • well it's downloading now in my signon box....
    Now it's installing....
    Now I'm investigating...
    Nice Job!
  • Eia
Remember to vote on your wishes for digsby over at the digsby community wishlist: http://wishlist.digsbies.org
  • whats ftw mean? some of you guys and your abbreviations lol

Mac version definitely! while I'm not a Mac user (who has a spare 1.5 grand lying around certainly not me! lol) I know alot of people who are, so that and linux is my top wanted feature.

my second, would be better myspace chat. facebook chat works beautifully, but myspace chat does not function at all. it tells me when I have new myspace messages, but the chat doesn't exist yet, so thats my second.

would also like to see social sites like facebook and myspace chat, have their own listing in the contact list, instead of being mixed in with MSN users! That has annoyed me since day one that facebook chat was introduced! :)
  • Justin
Since you asked for requested features in comments, I would say my biggest would be individual alerts for contacts. Like alert me when a specific contact signs on (or comes back from an idle state) by popping up a chat window or an alert.
  • hunor
Best IM protocol out there! Keep up the good work :)
  • My friend just showed me Digsby.
Wow I'm going home to download it now!
    Many thanks!
  • nice work, cheers!
  • Digsby
@Scott: You do connect directly to IM endpoints. You connect to Digsby servers to synchronize preferences so if you sit down at another computer the experience is the same. The connections to all the services happen directly between your computer and each respective service.
  • Howie
Ooohh... Dramatically decrease CPU usage. Now, I'm really excited!
  • Main feature request is to have no reliance on Digsby server and connect directly to IM endpoints. Account/Login information doesn't need to go through Digsby.
  • Digsby
@Rex: Yes. Clicking Help > About tells you what version you are running.
  • Ike
Great Job guys! Keep up the good work!
  • Rex
When you say "pushed" does that mean my digsby got automatically updated? How do I check what my current version is?
  • Billy Clark
    !!!Skype!!!
  • yahweh
    local mode, ftw!
  • Tom
    Nice, Thanks for the updates.
  • I am happy at work when I get to use Digsby on my Windows machine. I am sad at home when I don't get to use Digsby on my Linux machine.
  • Excellent. This local settings thing might come in handy, because I occasionally find problems with not being to connect to Digsby.

Oh, and any chance you folks will one day show the availability status in the system tray? I can't name how many times I've accidentally kept myself marked as away, because I mostly keep Digsby minimized in the tray area. I saw various feature request sites that mentioned this, but I'm not sure if the developers are considering that at any point in the distant future! It would greatly improve Digsby's usability just by adding this :D

Anyway, keep up the good work.
  • marco
pleeease a linux version...even if it is a trimmed down version at first. Or at least make it friendly to Wine
  • FYI, you might want to vote for your most-wanted feature/change at wishlist.digsbies.org so your voice will be heard... instead of here in the comments.

    Thanks for the release, guys!
  • mack the knife
A Mac version would be my first choice feature. A Linux version would be my second choice.
  • A seemingly simple enhancement that would improve the AIM functions would be to have bold, italics, and underline all able to be separated in one message. Much like the AIM client does and how many other clients do. As in, I'm typing an instant message, I want to bold one word or one letter even but not the entire message.
  • yan
nice one! just one thing that i think that can improve. theres a bug with twitter.. cuz my own pics dont appear, instead of it appear an error pic.
    thx ;)
  • Yay, features!
  • Excellent work, guys. Glad to hear it's feature time.

I'd like to see OTR chat next.

  • drunkonamission
Awesome and keep up the great work guys! :D
  • I would really really really like digsby to have a persistant window for twitter. As it is, I run digsby, and a seperate twitter client.
  • ++Mac Version
  • Corey Sinay
Great job to all the alpha testers and Steve and the company. It's getting better every update
  • Mac version is my most wanted feature. Flickr integration would be my second
