Build 82 – Private Alpha Release

We just pushed out a small update to all of our alpha testers (Build 82, 28065 28094) which includes fixes for a few recent protocol changes.  Notable changes include:

  • Fixed a bug that caused Gmail actions like ‘Delete’ and ‘Archive’ to not work if you enabled their new multi-account login option
  • Fixed a bug in MySpaceIM that caused login to fail due to a protocol change
  • Fixed a bug in the Research Module that caused Java runtime errors
  • Rotate CitySearch local listings in with the OneRiot trending news stories (prominently labeled as ‘Featured’ when they appear)

Since this build is primarily bug fixes for protocol changes, we’d like to push it out to all users as quickly as possible.  Please let us know if you run into any bugs by using “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us at bugs@digsby.com.

If you would like to become an alpha tester and get new releases before everyone else, download this file and place it in the main program folder. Keep in mind that as an alpha tester you may get a release with a few bugs every now and then.  We are looking for people who are proactive in reporting these issues so we can fix them before builds go out to all users.

Update 1 (8/26/2010 3:10pm EST): We pushed out a small patch that should help Hotmail accounts log in more reliably.  It looks like some of the Hotmail servers have been flaky lately so we are trying a different login method.  The new build number is r28094.

    Is Digsby compatible with the new 15.4.300.280 wave 14 ?
    it seems there are some cases when messages will not come through

    I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits latest updates etc etc

  • I just thought of another great feature for Digsby, two others actually: group chat support for widgets, and the ability to save conversations from widgets.

    nevermind. For some reason logging off didn't fix it. I had to close digsby completely and reopen it. Now it works.

    Getting an issue with facebook. It just says "Authenticating"

    Appears the authentication errors are resolved at least of this morning for myself. I'm assuming a server side change was implemented? Might want to post an update to the blog article if this was the case as it appears several people were having the same issue.

    when i install digsby in my system..my system were runnning very slow..it occupies more space from RAM..pls do the needful...

    I am bothered by the new development of all my facebook buddies appearing as just signing on, clogging the side of my screen with buddy notifications. I think this is because facebook takes the longest to log on, so Digsby thinks they're all just signing in at once.

  • So those issues with GMail actions were in fact a bug. Digsby support on Twitter told me otherwise a week ago.

  • After seeing that everyone has been having problems getting into Digsby I am glad that I didn't quit Digsby like I normally do and instead just disconnected from my chats.

    For everyone who is having trouble though, starfx6464 seems to have found a way around it. In his comment, the seventh comment, he said "Upgraded and now I'm getting authentication errors as if my password is bad? Even though I had Digsby set to remember my password and even if I retype in my password (positive it's correct) I still get Authentication Errors. Not aware of anything else that changed on my end other than updating to the new alpha so I "tricked" Digsby into cached mode (unplugged from the internet while attempting to authenticate) to get around this for now. Am I alone in this?"

    i was also not able to login it was a database issues of Digsby, then i could login after some time but preferences did not got saved/no sync but now everything is workig fine...loging,savinf pref...sync everything OK! :)
  • Unable to connect online mode. Just grabbed the update when i got home and it's not able to connect correctly. Maybe coincidence...

    I installed the update, now can't log into digsby. Get authentication error. Worked fine before. Install went smoothly, no reason for it as far as I can see.

    With the latest update.. for some reason I can't seem to sign on anymore...

    It shows "Authenticating..." And then to "Connect" repeats... And then "Authentication Error"

    I tried using the Forget Password feature, but when I enter my Email address... It can't find my account.

  • "Authentication Error" - goes back and forth between "Authenticating" and "connecting" then says "Authentication Error". :(
  • Getting a username/password authentication error after updating to the newest alpha... can't login to digsby
  • Restarted Digsby, got the update and everything came up OK, but now that I've exited and tried to start it up again, it won't connect. I'm stuck at the Authenticating step, so I can't file a bug report.
  • Oh those java errors were from Digsby, I thought they were from websites I was visiting. Thanks a lot for the fixes though.
    Also, do you know when, or if, you will add the option to change the directory where the chat logs are saved?

    Fix the stuttering issue in fullscreen games when Digsby is running. It's been well over a year now.

    I've noticed that my Twits are day old and not updating.
  • There is a bug in the Twitter API which causes updates not to load. The good people at Twitter are working on this now. There should be an update out later today. Bit more info here - http://twitter.com/twitterapi/...
