Build 81 – The More the Merrier

We’re excited to release Build 81 (r27909) to all users which includes some highly coveted new features, bug fixes, and enhancements. As always, you can read the entire list of enhancements on our Change Log. Notable changes include:

Group Chat: The long awaited group chat support is finally here! You can create or join chat rooms on AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, and Jabber. Just click the room list button on the top right corner of the IM window and invite others to the chat. You can also create rooms via the menu: Digsby > New Group Chat.
LinkedIn: We’re introducing a completely redesigned LinkedIn implementation powered by their new API. You can now do all the good stuff you already do with your other social networks like comment on posts, like/dislike items, etc.
MySpace Like/Dislike: We added Like + Dislike support to MySpace newsfeed items. Since their API doesn’t currently support this capability, the link acts as a shortcut for posting a “Like!” or “Dislike!” comment on the thread.

If you run into any bugs please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us at bugs@digsby.com. We’ll keep pushing to make Digsby even better and greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word!

I saw in your past posts that you fixed the FB "Failed to Connect" and the FB login page constantly popping up. However I STILL have these problems. I JUST redownloaded and installed the newest version of Digsby in an attempt to correct this problem but it still persists.

Guys, individual buddy notifications is 5th on the digsbies list now, and because skype thingy is not possible and group chat is done, its essentially third. Come on, at least tell us that you'll do it.

Click Help > About Digsby and see if you have Build 27909. Also, in an IM window there is a small icon in the top-right that you can click on to invite other people in the conversation. Let us know if this helps!

hi, is this r27909 the same as 27909 only? bec i un and reinstalled what was initially r27909 then it became 27909... and still can't log on to my YM account... :(

Unless I'm mistaken, digsby does not implement the voice chat of windows messenger live? Not being able to voice-chat prevents me from uninstalling messenger live. I hate having to still keep it when I prefer digsby.

Mine is not working when I click to chat with a buddy I get a Error message that says ASPELL has stopped working.. then when I close it it tells me I need the dictionary so download it ok?? so I do and it keeps crashing and doing the same all over again..?

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I've been waiting for this for such a long time. Thanks for implementing group chat, it was the one thing that has really been missing for me to completely convert. I can now completely get rid of ALL my other IM programs.

I didn't see any mention of a robust searchable history? I use IM for work constantly and I need the ability to quickly look up past conversations. Diggsby's weak history search is the one thing that's kept me using Trillian.

Now that there is group chat, can you make an option for the Digsby widgets to be a group chat, kind of like a chat room in a sense? That would be great.

Will we see the ability to send hyperlinks when chatting? I know you can send URLs, but I'd like to be able to provide link text. Or at least a URL shortener, like "Insert Link" on the global status.

When the buddy list is in focus, you can just press "Ctrl+A" or click Digsby > "Add Contact.." Let us know if that helps!

Dear Erick,

Iam using digsby at a different place from home where i had a broadband connection. Here there is a proxy server. I entered the correct proxy settings and the mail IDs and the social networking sites are working fine but the IMs are unable to connect. Digsby is running in local mode. I went into the advanced settings of the IM accounts and tried to change the proxy there also but in vain. what do i do?

Hi, depending on the number of contacts... I have the buddylist in the right corner of my screen... some contacts go off and online over the time... so either the buddy list is wasting space because only a few contacts are online or the other way around i have to scroll in the buddylist to see whos online.. for me it would be nice if the list resizes automatically upwards to fit the content of the list..

Huge thanks to Digsby team for adding Group Chat. I know you guys (and gals?) have come in for a lot of stick that this feature has taken so long but I'd like to encourage you all because this is the ONLY thing that's stopped me wholeheartedly recommending Digsby to others. I'm gonna spread the word big style now!

I know there are always going to be more feature requests and people who want skype integration etc., but don't lose sight of the fact that Digsby is a great product already. I'd hate to see it wrecked through featuritis.

thanks for that. hoping to see the best facebook UI any chat app has ever had before... please take care of the auto-fb notifications as well... no chat app has that all... twitter is perfect, just remove the one click (sad UI) and add shorcut-keys... digsby will be untouchable!

Their protocol is a bit difficult to implement without actually having Skype open, which kind of defeats the purpose. Definitely something we plan on tackling though

I second the vote for new MSN protocol support, especially the multiple concurrent locations feature. It's a big hassle that I must sign in again with MSN whenever I go to work/get home.

Hi Miguel, sure thing. All you have to do is go to http://www.digsby.com/ and click on "Free Download" or look to the top-right of our blog for and click on "Download Now." Hope this helps!

Just open up Digsby and sign in. During the sign in, it will check for updates and download and install them automatically.
