There is nothing suspicious about making a feature which includes sponsored links that generate revenue to support Digsby development on by default. However, we've gotten some emails and bug reports from folks asking what they were because they didn't read the blog so the next release adds a question mark link into each story which brings up a dialog explaining what they are and how to turn them off.

A little behind on commenting here on this, but I absolutely /hate/ that "Trending News: We’ve partnered with the folks at OneRiot to bring the latest trending news stories to your social feeds. You can enable/disable via Preferences > General & Profile." is opt-out. I scrambled all over Digsby's preferences, Twitter's help site, and even a Google search before I had to come and search through Digsby release logs to find out why /unwanted/ trash from MTV, ESPN, and etc. was showing up in my timeline in Digsby.

Never-ever-ever make stuff that is enabled by default and opt-out. That's just highly suspicious behaviour. Now I have to wonder what else is turned on that wasn't originally in there and that I absolutely don't want on.

What would be really really nice is a skin that completely utilizes Windows Aero on Vista and 7 (or at least 7). Like, completely. Like, the whole buddy list window and the whole chatbox window (and might as well do the preferences and history windows). Or at least the backgrounds of these windows. That would look really nice and it would blend with the rest of the Windows UI. More applications should utilize the Aero interface--its pretty attractive.

I also would be happy to see a Linux version appear. Mac OS X would be nice, too, but as Linux is my own preferred OS, I'ma have to add my +1 to that request above all other requests I might have. An Ubuntu/Debian .deb package release would likely grab you the largest chunk of Linux users right off the bat, and should be fairly simple to convert to the other major package format (.rpm).

Hey Digs, since you've gotten a few comments about the 'spam' in the feeds I thought I'd let you know I like it. I'd even say I'd like a volume control so when my lame friends aren't entertaining me enough I can start seeing more trending posts. Nice feature, I hope it didn't distract you from the group chat though, grrr ;)

Just submit a bug report using the Help menu after one fails so we can take a look at what's going wrong.
