Build 76 – Private Alpha Release

It’s been almost two months since our last release so this one is jam packed with lots of goodness!  We just pushed an update to alpha testers (Build 76, r26081 r26136 r26183 r26272 r26307 r26321) which includes a large number of features, bug fixes and enhancements.  As always, you can read the entire list of enhancements on our Change Log. Notable changes include:

  • New Skins: The “Windows 7″ skin now has 8 new variants by @derekerdmann.  Access them via Preferences > Skins.
  • Windows 7 Support: Digsby takes advantage of jump lists for easy access to common tasks and top buddies (by log size).  We also use taskbar grouping to let you jump to conversations, see typing notifications and unread conversation counts.
  • Better Popups: Social networks will no longer show a separate popup for Alerts and the titles will no longer say “Facebook Newsfeed” with a generic Facebook icon.  Instead, you will see the friend’s picture and name with a small badge in the top right for each network. You can also comment/like Facebook items right from popups.
  • Trending News: We’ve partnered with the folks at OneRiot to bring the latest trending news stories to your social feeds.  You can enable/disable via Preferences > General & Profile.
  • Facebook Dislike: We’re amazed by how many people wanted to “Dislike” Facebook posts.  The Dislike Button Facebook page has over 3.2 million fans!  You asked for it, you got it.
  • MySpace Newsfeed: We’ve revamped the MySpace newsfeed to support their new APIs so it looks a lot more like the Facebook/Twitter feeds including the ability to comment on statuses.
  • MySpace Achievements: Back in September we introduced achievements for Facebook and the functionality is being ported over to MySpace.  You will be asked if you would like to enable or disable this functionality and you can turn it on/off by editing your MySpace account in Preferences.
  • Yahoo HTTP Support: Restrictive firewalls and proxies should no longer be an issue for Yahoo Messenger users.  Edit the account in preferences and set it to “Always use HTTP”

We’re excited to get this release solidified and pushed out to all users so if you experience any issues please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us at bugs@digsby.com.

If you would like to become an alpha tester and get new releases before everyone else, download this file and place it in the main program folder. Keep in mind that as an alpha tester you may get a release with a few bugs every now and then.  We are looking for people who are proactive in reporting these issues so we can fix them before builds go out to all users.

Update 1 (2/1/2010 5:00pm EST): We just pushed out a patch fixing many of the issues you’ve been reporting.  The new release number is r26136.  We are still working to fix issues with the taskbar like it not obeying the don’t show preference and the phantom Digsby window.  We’ll push these out ASAP.  For now, here is what the new patch fixes.  Let us know if you run into new issues or continue to see these bugs:

  • Fixed a bug that caused the CPU to spike for some users
  • Fixed a bug that caused some Hotmail accounts to fail to connect
  • Fixed a bug that caused email actions to break for some Hotmail accounts
  • Fixed a bug that caused MySpace to show the login window instead of failing to connect when there are network issues
  • Fixed a bug that caused ICQ incoming messages to get cut off or lost in some cases
  • Fixed a few bugs that caused docking and auto-hide to break after double clicking the tray icon
  • Fixed a bug that caused MSN authentication request popups to show on login
  • Fixed a bug that caused IM unread counts to stick around if closing an IM window using the taskbar preview panels
  • Fixed a bug that caused Twitter to show an unread count even if all tweets were read
  • Ensure that at least the four main Facebook filters make it into the dropdown
  • Disabled the “top buddies” portion of the jump list for now while we optimize its performance

Update 2 (2/4/2010 12:00pm EST): We pushed out another build fixing most of the remaining issues in this alpha release.  The new release number is r26183.  MySpace login will still fail for some users and we’re working on that now along with final polish.  List of changes:

  • Fixed a bug that added a fake Digsby window to the taskbar previews
  • Fixed the “show in taskbar” preference on Windows 7
  • Fixed a bug that caused MSN authorization popups to show every time you log in
  • Brought back the top buddies position of the jump list
  • Improved performance for calculating log sizes so the jump list doesn’t slow Digsby down
  • Removed status icons from the jump list because once you pin a buddy we can no longer update the icon unfortunately
  • Fixed a bug that caused taskbar previews to show as black icons for some AIM buddies without a buddy icon
  • Fixed a bug that caused buddies to open in an IM window without a tab if you previously closed that tab using the taskbar previews
  • Fixed a bug that caused buddies to not show in the taskbar previews if you drag them out into their own window and then drag them back in
  • The folks at MySpace fixed a bug which prevented their set status API from working properly
  • The tab key now finishes a Twitter autocomplete (in addition to Enter)
  • Fixed a bug that caused Digsby to freeze when there’s an invalid JID on your Jabber buddy list

Update 3 (2/8/2010 6:30pm EST): This build patches up the rest of the known issues with this alpha release and introduces support for commenting on MySpace statuses.  MySpace login will still fail for some users but they should have this fixed by tomorrow.  Please let us know if any new issues were introduced or if any bugs remain which were new in this series of alphas.  List of changes:

  • Added support for commenting on MySpace statuses!
  • Fixed a bug with the new Yahoo HTTP support that caused it to disconnect regularly
  • Fixed a bug that caused buddies with underscores in their username to be ignored when making jump lists
  • Fixed a bug that caused Facebook Chat buddies to be ignored when making jump lists
  • Fixed a bug that caused Facebook popup notifications to break when clicking “Like” in some cases
  • Another attempt to fix a bug that caused MSN to get stuck in “loading contact list”
  • Fixed a bug that caused the “typing” badge to show on the wrong taskbar icon in Windows 7 if your tabs are not combined
  • Fixed a bug that caused taskbar previews to show out of order if you drag a tab out into its own window and then dragged it back in
  • Fixed a bug that caused status to get set incorrectly when returning from invisible
  • Optimized diagnostic logging to improve overall Digsby performance
  • Twitter popups will show your timeline tweets before search results
  • When clicking the taskbar icon if the buddy list is hidden, slide it back into view

Update 4 (2/10/2010 11:15am EST): This build fixes a few more issues, and includes the fix for Facebook that was applied to the public beta earlier today. Other fixes include:

  • Several problems related to the infobox for Facebook and MySpace accounts are now fixed
  • A bug which caused AIM self-status messages to display as HTML

Update 5 (2/11/2010 12:00pm EST): One last patch as we get ready to release this to all users later today.  Final release number will be r26321.

* Fixed a bug that caused some Hotmail accounts to fail to connect
* Fixed a bug that caused email actions to break for some Hotmail accounts
  • Simon
Hello, I'm using build r26321 and for some reason the show on taskbar function doesn't work at all anymore. In the beginning (first build) we couldn't remove it, and now I can't use it.

    W7 x64 BTW.
  • Simon
    Nevermind, got it working.
  • FB still has intermittent connection problems in build 26307, not sure if the build actually fixed anything or not.
  • Eddie
Is digsby going to have 'facebook notification' notifications. Like "so and so commented on your post" that kind of stuff?
  • Frenky
I'm waiting for the public release of the new update. :>
  • tstrike
Hey Digsby guys.... FB interface has been intermittment the last 3 alpha releases.... its up and its down...
  • Simon
    And it's wrong and it's right :)

    Sorry, just had to :D
  • Digsby
It looks like they are having temporary issues with their servers. This should resolve itself.
  • tstrike
Nope its STILL GOING.... Its absolutely Nutzy now
  • luis
with the new facebook interface can not see the updates, what can i do to fix it ?
  • Does Digsby have a roadmap of planned features/fixes for the near future? I think it'd be more effective than having most of the blog questions asking "When will feature X be available?".
  • Hi..

Do you have any plan to integrate Google Buzz? Any ETA?
  • sometimes digsby gets to 50-60% of CPU after this new update 26272, and it has happened just few times before it.

it might be my pc, but i just want u guys to know every single problem i report while using digsby :)

    keep it real
  • Digsby
ATTN Alpha Testers: MySpace just fixed the issue with their new API, which we switched to in this release, that was causing login to fail for some of you. If you had this issue, please restart Digsby. Did the fix work or are you still unable to log in and get your newsfeed? If you are still having trouble, please submit a bug report.
  • shunter
    Hi,

I am using the groupfeature for multiple conversations. In previous versions, this meant that there is one icn in the taskbar I would lcik on and have a tabbed window present. Now there is a group so whenever I want to bring up a conversation, I have to hover the group and then click on the desired buddy just to bring up mentioned tabbed window. Is there any way to return that to the previous behavior? It was way more convinient.

PS: Sorry for any mistakes in my comment but I'm flying blind. Commenting box is just a plain black frame.
  • anonymous
you know what else would be great? if you staggered the messages from the each person. a la:
    person A:
    blah blah blah
    Person B:
    blargity blahs
that would make it easier to read. just saying.
  • saurabhjha
The fake Digsby icon that used to show up in Taskbar preview has now been removed - but infact it was quite useful since it bought up the buddy list - it did it fast, and it did it in one step.

Now for example, if I have one chat session open - the previews show me just the chat window, and in order to bring up the buddy list, I need to right click the icon and click 'Digsby'... which is two steps to bring up the buddy list. I think it will be very helpful if the Digsby icon is pinned to taskbar with 'Show in Taskbar' as checked, the buddy list should always be available in the previews. Thats really helpful.

    Please consider.
  • Digsby
You can right click it and choose Pin to Taskbar for it to always show.
  • saurabhjha
It is pinned to the Taskbar... let me explain..steps to reproduce:

    1. Pin Digsby to taskbar
    2. Start a chat session
    3. Close the Buddy List window, and just keep the chat session open
    4. Hover over the Taskbar Icon... it shows the chat session but does not show the buddy list
    5. To open the buddy list, I now have to right click the taskbar icon and click 'Digsby'...

Earlier, that fake Digsby Icon was the Buddy List, so even if I close the buddy list, and had the chat session open, I could hover over the pinned taskbar icon, and just click on the fake Digsby icon to bring up the buddy list... was much easier, one-step process and very convenient.

Basically what I am requesting for is that if the Icon is pinned to taskbar and Digsby is running, one of the preview windows should always be of the buddy list, whether or not the buddy list window is active (ofcourse this could be optional with the 'Always show in Taskbar' option). As of now, when the icon is pinned to the taskbar, the 'Always show in Taskbar' option really does nothing.
  • anonymous
I tried that and it didn't go away. I turned off all sounds.
  • I have another problem with one of my yahoo accounts that has 800+ contacts in its list. When I enable the "Always use HTTP" for this account, Digsby gets stuck at "Loading contact list...". Reconnect, restart Digsby, restart Windows... don't help at all.
  • Digsby
Restart Digsby and get this to happen. Let it sit in this state for about 5 minutes. If it is still stuck or goes to a failed to connect state submit a bug report using the Help menu.
  • I love the new Win7 features. However for the top-log-size jump-list, it would be even nicer if all nicks that has been merged as a single contact is shown only once.
  • luigy
Great! thanks for all the work, I believe that digsby is the best. Even better than adium (and I´m a mac user).
  • On any version of Digsby, will sending SMS messages to someone from my email account cost money on either my part or my contact's part? Even if my contact has free texting?
  • Digsby
It costs you nothing. For them, it is just like any other SMS. If they have free texting, it won't cost anything. If they pay per SMS, it will be the standard rate.
  • When is Digsby for Mac coming? C'mon! I've been waiting forever for it!
  • Cuauhtemoc
The one thing that i'm missing from Digsby is native video chat. Tokbox works allright, but I often have problems with it; the audio often cuts out, and sometimes it just crashes. Are you guys working on that?
  • Nolan
Just tried out the newest alpha on my Windows 7 PC. I love it! I really like how incoming messages and unread messages are indicated on the main Digsby icon when chatting with someone. Keep up the great work!

PS - I'm glad to hear that the word wrap problem is being worked on. I look forward to the fix.
  • Nick
I really love Digsby, but the one game breaking feature you guys are still missing (that Trillian has BTW) is the ability to setup separate proxies by account, or at the very least specify specific accounts that don't use the proxy. The classic example is those of us who use a jabber client at work (only accessible on the LAN) but want to use a proxy server for everything else (msn, twitter, etc). I've seen the feature requested numerous times in the forums but it never seems to be on anybody's list. Any chance we'll see it soonish?
  • Digsby
It likely won't make it on the to-do list for quite some time because it's something that a very tiny portion of users need (most likely less than 0.1%) but it is something that would clutter up the user interface for the remaining 99.9% of users. Our goal is to make a simple product for a wide audience rather than one that has every imaginable feature but is too complex for the average user to understand. In the future we'll hide an advanced preferences section somewhere and this would make it into there. For now, there are much bigger fish to fry (ie: group chat, per-character formatting, mac/linux builds).
  • Nick
While I understand your logic there, it still makes me very, very sad. I wish you guys were either open source (I'm a programmer and could easily implement the feature in a weekend) or didn't have a client that was better than everyone else's. I would SO go somewhere else if there was an alternative.
  • Nolan
I know this has been reported for quite some time now, but I was just wondering: Will we see a fix for the word-wrap issue in the chat notifications pop-ups? You know how after replying once or twice within the pop-up it cuts off text instead of wrapping it? If that were to be fixed in the near future, I would have to throw a large party in celebration.
  • Digsby
Yup - there is a ticket for it in an upcoming milestone.
  • it wasnt enabled by default in firefox 3.6, you have to type about:config in your address bar and then double click on browser.taskbar.preview.enable. Its a little buggy and not perfect yet, i dont recommend using it yet, probably why its turned off at the moment
  • ahmed ahmadi
how can i update to the latest version ?? i heard it should automatically update after i sign in digsby , but i cant see any difference , 25261 is digsy version that i have
  • Digsby
You will get the update when it goes out to all users - this is an alpha release that we are cleaning up to make sure no bugs are introduced when it goes out to everyone. There are instructions in the blog post on how to become an alpha tester if you would like to become one.
  • Not to be pushy or anything, but are you guys going to merge Skype with Digsby? I'm just really anxious for Skype to be compatible with Digsby because Skype's interface is fugly.....
  • ErickD
Definitely going to tackle that. The protocol is just a bit difficult to implement without actually having Skype open.
  • werkem
Is the new feature going to have the option to set the state on different accounts like pidgin ?

I like this chat program more than pidgin, but that feature alone keeps me from sticking with it
  • For some reason offline buddies are showing up in my Top Buddies list... I liked it when their status icons were posted, even if it didnt work when pinned... I never found it useful to pin a buddy.
  • i didnt get a thing about the new update, did u guys added the possibility to make digsby icon appear only on the jumplist?
  • Could you add an sign out and exit digsby option to the jumplist?
  • This is a powerful feature, Digsby team. Either implement this method, or make it so clicking the close button on the buddy list Signs out and closes the application (an optional preference). It's annoying, especially on a touch screen, to find the Digsby icon in the system tray and right click it to close
  • Simon
    Hello Digsby !
I have found a bug, when I have the buddy icon ticked (to show buddy icon in taskbar) and I haven't pinned the program it's still just showing the Digsby icon, NOT the buddy icon. Also it doesn't show the status icon either.
And one more thing, why is it that when I have the "Tab conversations to one window" ticked I get this awful thing that lets me choose which conversation I want to select from the taskbar (like ie8 does with the tabs) the point when tabbing is that I just want ONE Digsby icon for ALL conversations ?

Thank You very much, please answer ! :)
  • Digsby
That is how apps are suppose to use the taskbar preview functionality in Windows 7. IE implemented it. WLM has it. The new Firefox 3.6 has it. Other apps will implement it over time as well.
  • Brandito
i'm running firefox 3.6 on both of my win7 machines and the tabs do not show in the preview area. is there something i'm missing or do you mean firefox 3.7 possibly?
  • Brandito
this was not a digsby issue, but i was making a correction to the remark about firefox
  • ErickD
Could you submit a bug report with more info? Help > Submit Bug Report
  • Simon
I see, then I just need to get used to it :)

Thank You VERY MUCH for the answer ! :D
  • How's everyone like the Windows 7 integration so far?
  • Couple of things wrong for my use case:

    1) I pinned the Digsby shortcut to my taskbar. Most programs (Chrome, Outlook, Tweetdeck, Yammer, ...anything, really) act in this way: I click the shortcut which is pinned to my taskbar. The application opens up, but uses the same exact icon in the taskbar when the application is open.

Digsby seems to create another icon in the taskbar once it's opened so that there is one shortcut Digsby icon, and one taskbar item of Digsby. The point of the new taskbar was to combine the "quick launch" features with the taskbar features.

    Did that all make sense?

    2) When I click the close [X] button on my buddy list, I want it to kill the application and end the process. Instead, it minimizes it to the system tray. I then have to click the arrow in my system tray to expand it out, right click the Digsby icon, and click Exit. Some people like it that way, but I want the option. (Tweetdeck did it your way for the longest time, until recently they released a version that gives people the option in Preferences)

    3) Thanks for fixing the phantom Digsby icon window in the taskbar. My friend had to get out of the alpha version because she just hated that being there.
  • Digsby
You may have the wrong shortcut pinned. When you launch Digsby, unpin the first one and pin the one that showed up when Digsby launched.
  • It killed the taskbar icon when I did that, but it worked.
  • Simon
I don't like it, lucky for me you can remove it now :D
What do you think ? :)
  • Michael
With the latest alpha, the buddy list only shows up on the taskbar when it isn't docked.
This may be the way the devs intended it to act, but I'd rather it show up even while docked.
  • Digsby
This is by design - it is how it has always behaved. You don't need the icon to bring the buddy list into focus since it is always there. However, with Win7 jump lists it might make sense to let you place it there to have access to the jump list items
  • I would also like the tray icon to show up (I have it checked in the preferences so it would make sense that this is the case) even when it is docked. I don't want it to be completely invisible; if I want it out of the tray I can always disable the option, but I don't like how docking it seems to invalidate having this option checked.
  • Brandito
i'd think such an option would make sense, i wouldn't mind having access to jump lists even with it docked.
  • How about a Dark Blue variant to the Windows 7 theme? the others are looking good - would be nice to have more!
  • Digsby
We'll add more skins over time :)
  • BBBBB
R u going to add a polish gadu-gadu protocol to digsby?
  • Digsby
We will add support for more protocols in the future.
  • sreelakshmi_india
    Hi Digsby,
Thank God I was waiting digsby to fix the bug about twitter Still expecting a "report spam" button beside users and need a way to delete direct msgs bcoz even if they wer deleted in twiiter they r staying in digsby
    Anyway guys you rock
Digsby is so cute and cuddly
  • Antelmo
Thinking of adding support for the Twitter list to the alpha?, also i try to use new adium's message styles and digsbyy just crashes, keep up the good work guys.
  • Tim
I made a prefs.yaml file with the following code:

    buddylist:
    show_on_startup: no

It has been working great for me for many months until this alpha was released. I have Digsby automatically sign in on Windows startup. Sometimes (but not always!) when Digsby starts, the buddylist window is open. Other times, it is closed like I asked it to. I'm running Windows 7 32-bit. I don't know what else there is to say.
  • Bliker
jump lists do NOT work for me :(
  • Digsby
They were disabled in this alpha while we optimize their performance (they were causing the CPU spin). They'll be back shortly.
  • Bliker
    ok, working now :)
  • hi all, new to the digsby testing forum, but I had a feature question. I am a student at the University of Phoenix Online, and all of our classwork is done via a forum. I am able to connect my email to it via newsfeeds, although it is a rather obscure process, but I am wondering what it would take to create a manual link via digsby. I know that tons of students would use it if available...
  • Hi
  • Seth
Is it possible to set the duration for the notification windows? Usually they disappear before I can read the whole thing which can be somewhat annoying.

    thanks
  • starfx6464
If you're in the process of reading them, you can hover your mouse over the notification to make it "stick" until you are done. When finished, either move your mouse away from the notification or right click on it to make it disappear immediately.
  • Seth
    Great, thanks!
  • mostrich
In the last Alpha Digsby worked very, very slow and didn't really work good so I had to change it to the latest final...hope you'll fix the bug...cause otherwise it isn't productivity to work with;)
but digsby's still my favourite messenger..good work guys
  • Digsby
This has already been fixed - switch back to the alpha to confirm.
  • Is Digby an Internet-explorer based application? I because upon observing it's memory usage, it's quite high. In my opinion it's a lite application. I don't know why it eats so much memory. By the way, in the current release of Digsby, which is version 75, is there a way that I can set the notifications to disappear after XX seconds?
  • That would be nice. I'd like that notification feature as well.
  • Digsby
We develop in Python but we use IE to open the login window for Facebook + MySpace. Opening the IE window does make RAM usage go up but you only need to log in to the social networks once.
  • copjon
One request... Facebook integration into the Twitter timeline or a separate Facebook timeline.
  • Hey i have a problem, when i add my hotmail messenger to Digsby when i chat with mobiles it doesn't let me send things and it gets very confusing when It does.
  • Digsby
Not sure what you mean. Can you email bugs@digsby.com with more details.
  • What is the approximate date that this new version will be released?
  • Digsby
We will keep pushing out alpha releases until all the new bugs are fixed. Then it will go out to all users.
  • Tony
Good luck! I think the Digsby could include Google Reader or other RSS feed!
  • hologos
Hmm.. I wrote very long message and when I tried to post it, it asked me for register, so I did and then it deleted it... So I will write it shorly... Some sort of problems with charset when using digsby and chating with someone who uses another client.. For example "ěščřžýáíé" and I recieve "мšишžэбнй".. Sometimes it causes deletation of next (or previous) letters. Pls make it work. Its very annoying.. Thanks
  • Digsby
This will only happen with people who use the old version of QIP because it does not send encoding info. If they upgrade to QIP Infium or any other IM client (like Digsby) it will fix the issue.
  • hologos
Oh, I thought it was fault of Digsby. Well, sorry then. Now is the time to strike back and yell at those people who were saying that Digsby sux (because of that). :)
  • Yay! New update fixed my CPU spinning issue. Now it only seems to sorta spin up a bit as it tries to connect.

Can we hold off on the unnecessary Win7 features? Or at least find a way to disable some of them? I'd rather change the conversation picker to more like a jump list or have it just bring up the IM window period.
  • Brandito
how do you expect them to test it then? do you understand what being an alpha or beta tester is?
  • Zumarotap
If Fb did have a dislike button, I'd 'dislike' anyone joining the "Dislike Button" group! :P
  • Digsby
lol, we thought it would be more of an sympathy/empathy thing. So, if a friend posts that they broke their leg you would use it not because you don't like the status but because you don't like the event in an sympathetic way.
  • WantsToUseDigsby
I want to use digsby but I can't stand the dinging noise it makes when you backspace and I would like to be able to chat while having music or the like.... can you make that something that can be turned on and off? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
  • Digsby
You can change all sound options in Preferences > Notifications.
  • starfx6464
While I don't mind the ads being streamed in through Twitter/Facebook, I would request that the backgrounds for these messages be different when viewed in both the "pop-up" list when hovering over Twitter/Facebook as well as when you double click Twitter to view the feed in a separate window. Maybe a grey or light light blue-ish tint? This would help them stand out more and make it easier to distinguish.
  • Continues to get better, but a couple of small glitches I've noticed
    - the taskbar and systray icon (I only want systray)
    - I have it docked right and auto-minimized but it's really hard in this release to get it to expand (the answer is double click the systray or taskbar)
    - there's a weird extra window appeared... floats top right, no close button, can't resize it or make it go away (and I don't want it!)
    - Twitter Direct messages no longer show sender and receivers icons, just mine (not obvious they are DMs any more)
    - Hotmail not logging in :(

apart from that ... looks good ... just hope there's some fixes this week not in a month ;)
  • siyangqiu
After my computer went to sleep, and i come back, Digsby gets all glitchy. Super slow, freezes, does not respond and such. Happened twice already with this new Alpha. I can't submit a bug report because it is too glitchy to go there.
  • MisterMooth
Do your chat windows all appear black when this happens? I might be getting the same bug
  • siyangqiu
    Hi,
It is so buggy that it has crashed before I can double-click on someone or
try to do anything. It usually only connects to a few networks and gets
stuck. Is there a log file that I can send you?
    Siyang
  • Tim
I find it hard to believe that no one's had anything to comment about since yesterday, 8:13 AM. Additionally, my comment has not been "approved," I guess.
  • Digsby
We didn't go through the comments on Saturday :)
  • Very laggy and CPU hog. It is making my temps go up in the 40s when they're usually in the low 30s
  • Digsby
It's a bug that is causing a CPU spin for a small portion of users. We'll have a patch out with a fix ASAP.
  • LordC
It would be great to be able to see my status (Busy, Away, Idle, Available) directly in the icon in W7 taskbar.
It would be also great to be able to set a Busy (or DnD) status without setting a personal message (like with Away), the only way to do that is to set a Busy personal message and remove it.
  • Joggs
100% cpu all the time in digsby on my x64 amd computer. Everything gets unresponsive. couldnt even report the bug from within digsby
  • copjon
    Check the Research Module?
  • Digsby
Unrelated. The research module never kicks in while you are using your computer - only after 5 minutes of idle time and it turns off instantly if there is keyboard/mouse usage. It also uses a small portion of the CPU, never 100%.

This was a newly introduced bug that caused a CPU spin. It was fixed in a patch earlier today.
  • I recommend making the digsby.com/fb link on the "Dislike!" comment be a link to a page here explaining the Facebook dislike button so users know what that is rather than linking to the front page, which says nothing about a Facebook Dislike button.

    Brian

    P.S. Great new theme colors!
  • HAHA....GUYS! I LOVE IT! Especially the whole Dislike thing - you've been the ONLY ones to act on it, and very awesome to see! :D I love the new variants of the Windows 7 theme - would like to see a dark blue in there - but, the purple actually kinda fits with my icon :D

The jump lists look promising - and, can't wait to fully delve into it. Kinda wish the netbook was able to handle 7, but, nooo.

Kinda sucks that the taskbar thing is still there - little bug - not that hard to get used to for now!
  • gpzbc
I really like the new Windows 7 themes too! And I agree, I would like to see additional dark colors. In addition to dark blue, I think a dark gray or dark glass would be sweet! But that's just my preference .
Keep up the good work Digsby devs!
  • Martin
Any updates on an option for choosing where chat-logs will be saved?
  • pdenton
I have noticed the CPU spike issue as well; it appears to be related to having AIM connected. When I don't have it connected, I don't experience the issue. I have submitted a bug report with all relevant information!
  • undtrekie
Digsby became unusable for me with this update. I tried posting about it earlier, but don't see it in the discussion. Digsby becomes unresponsive and eats up 50% of the computer processing power every couple of seconds for 15 seconds. It is a cyclic occurrence. So, unfortunately, until it gets fixed, I am forced to switch to Pidgin so that I can actually communicate with people. Hope you get it fixed quick. I really do enjoy using Digsby.
  • XP
Having a problem where digsby keeps hanging up on me. It freezes continuously for several seconds then is responsive then becomes unresponsive again. There's no end to the cycle except to end it via task manager. I've submitted a bug report but thought I'd post it here as well
  • Curious... will Digsby ever be able to support IRC?

More importantly, I cannot connect to my hotmail account.
  • Brandito
i've been waitinf for IRC support myself. it'd be a great addition!
  • Digsby
We may add IRC support in the future. The Hotmail issue will be fixed shortly.
  • Thanks for the response. Hotmail is connecting! But MySpace isn't...
  • landale
I am getting crazy high CPU usage with this build as well. like up to 50%. it causes my typing of messages to pause all the time. I am gonna have to go back to the last release until this is fixed.
  • Guest
Thanks for the update. Jumplists is great. Would be great if i could set the IM Status with Jumplists too. Just like in Skype Beta.
  • undtrekie
I randomly started having a problem where Digsby uses 50% of the processor power in cycles of 15 seconds. And during those 15 seconds, Digsby goes unresponsive. It comes back for about a second, and then goes back to being unresponsive for another 15 seconds. I restarted my computer hoping that the general fix it all would work, but to no avail. I submitted a bug report, but I really wish Digsby would behave so that I could talk to my friends. Hope you can track this one down, guys. Thanks.
  • Alex
I am having massive issues with this release. It locks up my cpu at 25% usage minimum. If I go to mouse over my e-mail it spikes cpu usage to 100% I've had to stop using this Alpha until a fix is pushed. I've submitted a bug report and hopefully this gets fixed soon.
  • Joggs
Hmm, the research module has changed to enabled after the update, i felt my computer wasn't responding really, and there we have it, digsby has secretly changed the setting to enabled and was using my idle cpu time. Lucky I found it.
Secretly changing settings you've set earlier is not good...at all.

Please just don't make Digsby to another real player, quicktime player or equivalent bloat software. There has to be other ways for you to make money.
  • Digsby
We have not gotten any other reports like this and can't reproduce this issue. We definitely wouldn't change the preference on you. The non-responsiveness is a bug which is causing a CPU spin which we are working to fix now.
  • jooster195
where is the main program folder
  • Operator
Another issue: I don't get any popup notifications in ICQ. I just see a little badge now in the taskbar. I know that it's intended for social networks, but not for ICQ, is it?
  • freibooter
"Windows 7 support". It's starting to seriously annoy me that this always seems to mean: "Add some random jumplist features and then ALWAYS show the taskbar icon without any option to remove it".
Skype 4.2 Beta is currently doing the same bs and didn't get it right either.
    Where to start:
Under Windows 7 the "Buddy List" -> "Show in taskbar" option is now essentially useless and makes no sense at all.
What's the point of having a permanent Taskbar icon if you aren't using it as intended?
Currently Digsby wastes an enormous amount of space because neither the taskbar icon nor the tray icon are optional!
Although the Windows 7-taskbar icon has a huge area and resolution it currently gives us no feedback about anything - we still have to rely on the additional systray icon to even show us our status ... the high-res taskbar icon should give us MORE information and the tray icon should no longer be necessary at all (Windows Live Messenger unsurprisingly gets this right, Digsby and Skype currently don't).

To summarize my long rant in short:
    * Give the Windows 7-user the option to EITHER show Digsby ONLY in the taskbar or ONLY in the system tray. (If you want a third options to show it in both, go ahead, what do I care, but it should never be default and it doesn't make much sense)
    * Use the high-res taskbar icon to show AT LEAST as much information as the systray icon, the more the better (take a look how WLM does this) - you should at least show the current status, you could show number of unread messages or open conversation, or unread tweets, facebook messages etc. or let us choose ourselves.

You're currently half way there ... sadly that's almost worse than not at all ... luckily this is only an alpha.
  • southaven1981
stop complaing so much about a completely free program.... atleast it does work and takes up a lot less room on your screen then alot of messengers running together.
  • Digsby
It's just a bug. We're working to fix it for the next alpha.
  • freibooter
What's the bug? That the taskbar icon is always shown? Or everything else I was complaining about?
Always showing Digsby's taskbar icon would actually be in full compliance with Microsoft's Windows 7 design guidelines so that shouldn't really be a bug. "Fixing" this bug would make the jumplist feature even more gimmicky than it is right now.

Essentially I would like to see two options for Digsby on Windows 7 in the future:
Windows 7 Mode - default - where it pretty much behaves according to Microsoft's guidelines. Absolutely no more additional tray icons, show all necessary information through the permanent taskbar icon. Look at the current Windows Live Messenger on Windows 7, it's doing it right.
"Classic" Mode - optional - with Digsby's tray icon(s) and a taskbar icon only if one of Digsby's Windows is open. Digsby pretty much behaves like it did before and like it does on older versions of Windows.
  • Digsby
That Digsby doesn't obey the "show in taskbar" preference and that there is an extra icon there.
  • is it possible to get digsby stay only in the jumplist?
  • This release is fantastic, I'm really excited to see development is charging ahead :)
One (pretty simple) feature I've always felt necessary and is built into Trillian and is actually the reason I switched a while ago before switching back was being able to hide when facebook friends log in.
Sure I'm interested in all my actual IM friends logging in, but with so many FB friends it just becomes annoying.
Can we have a "Suppress facebook log in notifications" option please? :)
  • Digsby
That does make sense. Facebook Chat and MySpaceIM buddies sign in/out far more often.
  • I encountered a small bug with the Facebook Newsfeed popup... there is a comment button and a like button as well as the arrows... when there has already been a comment and like there is (1) next to the respective button text. When that is the case the arrows and the button overlap.
  • Digsby
Can you submit a bug report with screenshot of this issue.
  • whyxhello
    THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.
  • pianomanmatt06
Is anybody getting a CPU spin up on their computer? I've had the update since this morning and I noticed tonight that Digsby was using 50% of the processing power and lagging my computer really badly. So much so that I had to drop back down to the earlier BETA because my computer was running so slow with Digsby running....input greatly appreciated!
  • Digsby
We've gotten a good number of logs of this issue. We'll have it fixed ASAP.
  • pianomanmatt06
just so everybody knows, I talked to Steve from Digsby and he confirmed it is a bug in the Alpha and that they're going to try and get a patch out early this week to fix the problem
  • jk
Same issue here. Unusable for me.
  • I was getting that. I submitted a bug report, but I dropped down to the last BETA release too. Will probably go ALPHA when they announce it as fixed.
  • andin.
i had the same problem on my pc. really bad. plz fix it. (by the way: i like the win7 features!)
  • Michael
Same here. Plus it was really really alow
  • Pierre
Yes, ive been experiencing the same thing. popus and feeds slows down and i get a message stating digsby runs heavily on cpu and asks me if i want to create a log to send in. Checking the process its now on 13% cpu and 80Mb memory. Way too much I think for a i7 920 cpu system.
  • Yep - same here. It's nearly unusable. I sent an error report to the Digsby devs - hopefully the issue can be fixed ASAP.
  • Jacob
    I got the same.
  • rdm
Same issue. Cannot send a bug report because it won't respond.
  • Yep getting the same thing. going to have to install a previous version also
  • thekarl
It is good to know I am not the only person getting the CPU spike issue, meaning there is an issue with the build. I have not had any luck finding a fix yet. Odd that it only occurred on one of the two computers I installed the alpha release on.
  • Same here. 50% CPU usage. Digsby told me it was running slow and asked to send info in. I told it yes. I am running 32-bit Win7. It's is almost unesable it is so slow. :(

Also, It puts TWO tabs in my task bar at the bottom, as if two instances are running. I'd rather there be an option to show NONE there. Only an icon in the notification area would be preferable (an option in preferences for this?).
  • Ok, maybe User Error here, but I'm having a problem installing Alpha:
    1) Add tag.yaml to directory
    2) Run Digsby
    3) Digsby finds and downloads update(s)
    4) Digsby PreUpdater.exe crashes

Running in Win 7 Pro (x64)
  • Digsby
Do you have an older version of threatfire? They had a bug which was fixed that caused this.
  • Spiking my CPU,
Every like 3 sec when I run anything other than YIM digsby is spiking my cpu to 100% and lag like crazy... The normal version did not do this. I'm running windows 7 64-bit. Its a problem... I'm going to switch to the old one for now because i cant use digsby at all like this.
  • Ok i am happy to confirm that it has been fixed in latest version.
Thank you Digsby!! Now come out with a Linux version ;)
  • tripmckay
Same problem here: Digsby freezes every few seconds including increased CPU time during the freezes. Problem vanishes if I disable all IM-Accounts.
Plus jumplist entries are all gone.
It worked (incl. jumplist) half a day before this happened, tried a clean install (+ deleting settings/log folders), but didn't change anything. Submitted bug report already.
  • Oysterboy
I'm having the same issues. Submitting a bug report.
  • Jacob
I can confirm this. 50% usage for me.
    I'll submit a bug report.
  • Digsby
Submit a bug report of it happening.
  • Jacob
I submitted a bug report. Unfortunately, it took a ridiculous time to type each letter into the form. All I got was the letter S.
    Hope this helps.
  • Brandito
digsby randomly started running ridiculously slow, submitted a couple bug report, have to revert back
  • I think there should be an exit digsby option in the taskbar icon, not just the tray icon. I also think status icon should overlay the taskbar icon just like the tray icon. There should also be an option to remove the tray icon. Thanks for the release guys!
  • seanet
Hotmail was working fine until i just updated to the latest beta says "Failed to connect"
Bug report will be submitted soon if issue does not resolve itself

bug report submitted. error still around 18hours later
  • Same here - strangely it's only one of my two Hotmail accounts that isn't working though.
  • Digsby
It only affects some Hotmail accounts. We're working to fix this now.
  • I am currently using the alpha and like it very much. I'd hope for the window icon to be more functional, similar to the windows live one where the status is indicated over icon. Similar functionality to the current taskbar icon.
  • nathanbrauer
@Digsby: Why didn't you push an announcement with a link to this blog post like you normally do? I would've never known about all these things if I didn't care enough to visit the blog to see what changed.
  • Not sure what you changed in this version, but it is completely unusable for me now. Also, why is it staying in the taskbar?
  • Digsby
The taskbar issue is a bug. We'll have it fixed in the next alpha. What is unusable? Is something broken? Email bugs@digsby.com
  • This new alpha is realy greate, but how can I pin the buddys I want to the see in the jump list?
  • starfx6464
Is it just me or did this alpha present a bug when using auto-hide? It seems Digsby does not want to come out on top of the current window in focus? I've even tried checking "keep Digsby on top" and that still has no affect? I filed a bug report with screen shot already but curious if somebody else started having these problems?
  • Digsby
There is a bug with auto-hide which is triggered by closing the buddy list with the taskbar grouping icons. We'll have a fix shortly.
  • anisite
    amazing!!!!
  • tashunga
hm well I notice lots of people asking for the mac and linux version...
will there be any comment on that requests? at least something like "the versions will be released in 6 month" or "we have decided to make digsby windows only" or whatever...that would be a great thing since one can look forward to that date (or forget about it) instead of just waiting and not knowing...
    thx in advance
  • Digsby
We will definitely not be windows only. We don't have an ETA but are starting to focus on it more rather than just ironing out the Windows release. We still do need to get group chat and multiformatting into the windows build though. Those are well overdue.
  • tashunga
thx for the answer! at least this gives me some satisfaction ;). Anyways I've found a solution to skip some time until the mac version is released. I've installed windows 7 on my mac aswell. And the only reason is that I'm able to use digsby :) so please be flattered and take this as another push to get going on the mac version. since I rly don't like windows =P
  • Even as a Linux user, I'll agree with this. The group chat was a big deal back when I was using Windows.
  • elijahmanor
I am waiting for IRC support. Is that coming?
  • quinbd
I have been wondering this for a while, is there every going to be support for glass notifications? They are just so ugly and could look so cool on Windows 7 and Vista. I do understand the windows API is not exactly easy. But i think it would REALLY add some appeal to Digsby. I love the program anyways, thanks for all of your hard work :)
  • elijahmanor
I'm actually waiting for IRC support. That is the one thing I keep going back to Pidgin for.
  • Not sure if I like the idea of the dislike button. Facebook hasn't added it officially as they want to stay a positive site. I don't think it's in dotSyntax's best interests to bundle this with the Facebook integration.

And I can confirm Digsby staying in the Taskbar on Windows 7. If it is set to hidden, just an item named "Digsby" will appear. If it is set to show, both "Digsby" and "Contact List" will show.
  • Using Digsby under Wine for now. Seems to work aside from the text automatically forcing a black background every time an IM is sent. But for now, it's great for checking email and social networks, even under Linux.

I've been looking forward to a Linux release for some time now, but whatever. If Digsby is going to be a Windows only app, I'll look forward to greater compatibility under Wine.
  • Never mind, this latest update actually broke Digsby under WIne for me. Oh well.
  • NemanjaTGG
Will there be badge support for Windows 7 taskbar, when i have new tweet or fb message or new email?
  • Digsby
It's hard to scale that. What if you have 6 social and email accounts. Where would we place all those icons. The tray ones would still be needed since that is how you access the feeds for each account.
  • DaN
When do you plan to add a jabber groupchat (confrence room) support? This is one thing because our company don't use DigSby.
  • Digsby
We'll be tackling it within the next few releases.
  • How do I get my Digsby only in systray?
  • Digsby
We're working on fixing this bug now.
  • NemanjaTGG
I have 2 unreaded tweets and 1 fb message why there is no any badge on Digsby icon in Windows 7 taskbar, will it be suported?
  • I presume that's what the systray icons are still there for? More notifications on the main digsby icon would likely just confuse things...
  • Digsby
That's exactly right - if you have 4-5 social networks + email accounts, plugging little icons in there won't really add value.
  • Operator
Thanks for the new Build :)

Anyway, I can't login to ICQ. Don't know if this has something to do with the latest Alpha or not. Shall I send you a bug report, just in case?
  • Digsby
Submit a bug report if it does not resolve itself.
  • smokes
too bad there is no skype )

but overall the avatars in Icq are not shown at all the people...
    hope to repair that..

    awesome program btw ^_^
  • Digsby
We have a ticket for the avatar issue. Thanks for reporting the issue.
  • Been waiting a while for Windows 7 features. I think I'll try this alpha out. :)
  • I'd still like to see an option for how long a pop-up stays on the screen. It's frustrating to have the pop-ups disappear on my without having been able to read them properly.
  • Brian
Still no group (or if you prefer broadcast) messaging? This would be so useful. We use XMPP at work and often times I need to send a message to an entire department about something. It's really a pain to have to click on several people individually to send the same message to groups of people. I've seen others request this feature as well, and is the only thing that I am really missing from this otherwise great messaging program!
  • Digsby
    Agreed!
  • Ricky
there's now a "Digsby" taskbar button.. and I have the "Buddy List" taskbar button disabled by default.. sigh
  • Digsby
    working on it
  • Digsby + Kubuntu = Jizz in my pants. I'm just saying.
  • Nice updates, but I'm lost on where to find two features: #1 Twitter trending. #2 "filter the Facebook newsfeed using a dropdown menu"
  • Digsby
#1 Twitter trending? Not sure what you mean

#2 The "Newsfeed" word in the Facebook infobox is a button with a dropdown arrow
  • #1. I misunderstood. Got it know.
    #2. Thanks.
  • Rene
MAC Version please, it has been "coming soon" on your webpage for ages.... Only app missing on my MAC, and I'm using digsby on my pc of course... Love it.
  • whizkid515
Try adium, and if you need to video chat, log on to meebo. Adium is amazing. The only things that I like about Digsby more are that settings are the same per user account instead of per computer, and the quick reply. Other than that, I've found Adium is more than enough for me. Plus it has working facebook chat. adium.im
  • Spell checker and localizations =)
  • tripmckay
In the Windows 7 jump list I do miss Tasks for quickly setting my status (without specifying a statusmessage) to available/away/invisible/offline...
  • I totally agree, I really really miss this functionality :/
  • gpzbc
I agree, this would be nice.
More generally put, I think the Win7 Taskbar Digsby icon should replicate all of the functionality of the Digsby tray icon.
  • Digsby
The set status item in the tray icon menu has a sub menu. Can you do that with jumplists?
  • gpzbc
I think it would be great if I could. But no, I can't set IM status from within jumplist. And there is no sub menu.
  • Can I make it so each contact conversation window gets its own taskbar icon like disable grouping just for digsby?
  • Digsby
I don't think so. That is a feature of Windows 7 and you can disable or enable it in the taskbar preferences.
  • Since i'm also a developer.. here you go:
    http://bit.ly/cxyarg
  • Carlos
Will the linux version be ready any soon?? It's been a long time waiting... by now I'm sticked with empathy..
  • Mary
I like Digsby but I have 2 problem. 1. it gives me al kinds of tracking cookies & stuff and sets off my alarm. 2. There is no GROUP chat, I have to get off digsby and sign back onto gmail just to chat with all 3 of my sisters at once. So I am now using another IM, but I love the simplicity of Digsby so please HURRY UP with the group chat PLEASE
  • dragnod
I dont like the new behaviour of digsby in the win7 taskbar. I use the Larger Taskbar Buttons (Properties of taskbar -> Taskbar buttons -> never combine) and since the update there is one large "Digsby" Button in front of my conversations which is completely useless und just uses up space.

Ich would really like the old bahaviour back.
  • schmoken
Run digsby in vista compatibility mode to fix the taskbar behavior
  • Is Digsby pushing this random "Featured" status update for the Examiner into my Facebook feed? I don't see if when I go to facebook (in News or Live view) or on another client I just checked with....
  • Friday
No, This is just for your Facebook feed within Digsby.
  • Digsby
Major Feature #4 - trending news. The articles are from publishers like the Examiner, New York Times, Wall Street Journal , CNET, etc. They are based on what the most shared news topics are right now on the real time web. It's optional.
  • Brandito
word wrap in the chat reply bubble is still wonky at times. depending on the message length sometimes it wraps the words to the next line and sometime it just cuts them off. i've also had the bubble just disappear while using it.

i've submitted bug reports on this in past builds so i'm gonna try posting here and maybe someone else has seen this too?
  • Digsby ftw!!
  • MasterEvilAce
With the Windows 7 support coming in.. we really need an option to disable the system tray icon.
  • gpzbc
  • Steven
Agreed. Oddly, this seems to be how Windows Live wants to tackle the tray vs. dock situation, but I think it's cleaner to have it only on the tray.
  • Grenadier
Thank you for finally adding the Yahoo HTTP proxy. Finally got everything connected through the firewall at work.
  • Rakielis
preferences > buddy list > window options

i have "show in taskbar" off...but it is still showing it in the taskbar now.

can we get an option so that when we are available, the chat windows take focus, but when idle or away, they start minimized?
  • Brandito
i think you should disable the new trending feeds by default to avoid any sort of possible backlash. while i don't mind it and know how to turn it off easily, other less savvy users might take offense to it and be turned off by digsby.

i'd hate to see something like the lifehacker darkside article pop up again! i recommend digsby to people all the time and have a lot of people converted to it, so i'd like to be able to continue doing that with the fullest of trust.
  • Steven
I had the same reaction. It took me 10 seconds to disable the feature myself, but others might be frustrated by it. However, if it's bringing in money, you gotta do what you gotta do.
  • gpzbc
I can see your point. Some people could get all huffy puffy about it. Personally, I'm leaving it checked. It is not obtrusive, and I assume it helps keep Digsby free.
  • Brandito
yeah i left it checked as well, however options like these are best left disabled for those who are a bit more sensitive. i just want digsby to continue to succeed!
  • E.E.Knight
Can I disable the taskbar grouping?
Because I'm using the standard taskbar in Win7 and so there's always a window opened in the taskbar.
  • Same here, I just submitted one ^_^
  • Digsby
Can you email bugs@digsby.com with more details.
  • MajorCrash
Did you add "featured" posts into the feeds? I'm not interested in seeing news article links in the middle of my facebook feed.
  • Digsby
Major feature #4 - trending news
  • gpzbc
just uncheck "Show trending news articles in social network feeds (powered by OneRiot)" in the Digsby Preferences.
  • It would be great if the Win7 taskbar changed to reflect the IM status in the same way that the tray icon does.

    Thanks again.
  • Ashish
    Buddy pounce please...please....!!!
  • Facebook news feed still has connection issues. Is this a problem on their end?
  • Jimmy Lee
I have the same problem... but it's not related to this new ALPHA as it was happening since about 11:00 AM EST ... about an hour before the news of the new ALPHA hit my twitter feed...
  • Yea my issues started before the alpha client release as well. It actually has been happening sporadically over the past month or two. Not sure if it is Digsby related or not.
  • Digsby
It's most likely temporary issues with their servers. Submit a bug report if it does not resolve itself.
  • Digsby
It should work fine. Submit a bug report so we can take a look but it is most likely a temporary issue with their servers or Facebook is blocked at your location
  • I'm still getting facebook issues (both chat and newsfeed), never had anything like it when using pidgin on ubuntu. Sending bug report now
  • I like the new Facebook notifications.

I may be in the minority here, but I'm not a big fan of Digsby hanging out on my taskbar when I haven't pinned it to the taskbar. It seems that the Digsby window shouldn't appear on my taskbar if I have "Show in Taskbar" unchecked in Preferences.

Is this an oversight, or expected behavior.
    Thanks!
  • Nate
Same with me, I like to keep my taskbar clutter free, and have no need for it to be there.
  • it would be great to get some more user feedback about this functionality. here's a link to a thread about it on our forums: http://forum.digsby.com/viewtopic.php?id=5711.
  • Digsby
We are still tinkering with the Win7 stuff. It should obey what the preference says :)
  • inpheaux
I can confirm this is busted. I've got "Show in Taskbar" unticked, and I'm getting a Digsby icon in my Win7 taskbar all the time. If I tick "Show in Taskbar" I get a *second* Digsby icon added to that stack. The "Top Buddies" status icons are also pixelated around the edges.
  • ErickD
We're currently working on fixing this. Thanks for letting us know.
  • Jacob
Would there be a way to get rid of the big Digsby icon? I don't see the point in it.
  • ErickD
    working on this
  • I'm experiencing the same behaviour (always showing in taskbar) so I'd say you have a bug. Will submit a bug report as well just to really be annoying about it.
  • I'm glad that is the plan. I'll submit a bug report. Thanks!
  • krishnaraj
    still no linux version :(
  • Sachin
Because nobody uses linux. Only pseudo-geeks with no real work use that. For productivity's sake, use Windows 7

Disgby is - seriously - the ONLY piece of sofware I miss when I use Linux.
  • Guys, how about Mac version? Since I have switched to Mac, Digsby is the only app I'm missing from Win...
Please, make the Mac version now and then add some additional functionalities... Thank you!

Wow. Still no group chat? Not even a taste?
C'mon dev team; I find it hard to believe that it's that tough - I mean start with group chat between same account types and then tackle group chat between different accounts or something.
I mean thanks for the pop up enhancements and other eye candy but group chat is something the entire Digsby community wants, and has wanted for quite some time. I'm sick of having to create tinychat.com rooms on the fly all the time.
  • Digsby
Agreed. We are tackling that right after we finish the last pieces of multiformatting, which is almost done.
  • Yay! Can I assume the Dislike button data is stored on Digsby servers?

I'm going to try the Alpha now. Great work on the new release!
  • Digsby
It is a shortcut for posting a dislike! comment on the post. Then, on Digsby's side, it filters out those comments and shows them as a dislike count which can be expanded into a list of names who disliked the post. You can "Undislike" and it will remove the comment. So, as more of your friends use Digsby, you will see more Dislike counts :)

This is... kind of very smart, nice going! :D

I'd love to see an option for weather in digsby.
  • bytemybits
So is that what we need to do? Start a "Support Jabber Group Chat" facebook page in order to get Digsby to acknowledge that _a lot_ of people have been begging for it?
  • Digsby
Agreed. We are tackling that right after we finish the last pieces of multiformatting, which is almost done.
  • Woohoo! I'm excited. I was beginning to miss the Digsby updates.
    Thanks!
  • Burke
    Per-character text formatting still a no-go, huh? :(
  • Digsby
Working on it now, it's almost done. It will likely not make it into this release but should make it into the next one.
  • Oh, NICE! I've been waiting for this feature since Digsby came out. It is LITERALLY the only negative thing I can possibly say about your program.

Quick feedback-- you should definitely make the "auto-respond with status" option more visible to the end-user. Some people, like myself, actually like having away messages actually kick back a response, instead of just changing your status. That feature is hidden just a bit too far into the settings. Maybe expose it to the status dropdown?

Still no support for multi user chat?

Thanks for all your hard work and everything, but I'm unlikely to use any of the above...
  • Guys, and how about Mac version? Since I have switched to Mac, the only app I'm missing most is Digsby... Seriously...
  • Ashish
Switch back to Windows 7 and start using the jumplist features. You'll miss it in 'Sac'.

Try Adium. It is not as good as Digsby but it seems it is going to be a long long time before Digsby gets on the Mac platform.
  • Chris
Use Adium. There's no reason for Digsby to go to Macs because no one will leave Adium for it.
  • Chris, I'm using it and it's good, but still Digsby is Digsby... ;)
