One Day, Two Builds

We couldn’t let this one wait until morning! We pushed a new update with a few major connectivity fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused digsby to freeze when connecting to Yahoo Messenger
  • Fixed a bug that caused digsby to get stuck in “Loading Skin…”
  • Fixed a bug related to firewalls that don’t allow non-http traffic over port 80

Did a “hard”-install of the new build. Same Error: “We are upgrading digby. Please try again in a few minutes”.

    Any ideas?

  2. bbbco Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 8:44 pm

You all are freaking awesome and amazing! It finally works on my campus (which I do believe blocks non-http traffic over port 80). This is an amazing program, keep it up!

  3. Randy Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 9:25 pm

Ahhhhh, I love love the updates, can finally go on multiple aims, but I feel like heading my head on the wall everytime it does that DOS thing and splits the screen.

  4. Rodney Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 10:19 pm

Awesome work guys! I found out about Digsby around 5 builds ago and I must say, I have removed Windows Live in favour of this. This is the first multi-protocol client I have actually been able to tolerate. Keep up the awesome work!

  5. David Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 10:58 pm

I think you should allow us to donate money $$$… we love Digsby !!

    Any idea when:

    - Audio/Video is coming ?
    - Extend the ability to send email to other contacts from the contact list of our emails directly from Digsby
    - See an email directly from Digsby and respond to it as well.
    - Send Digsby invites to our contact list ?

Its funny to witness the first Digsby users so entitled to make it known among their own friends.
    That’s a killer app.

    Great Job Steve

  6. David Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 11:02 pm

Oh and I forgot, IM with facebook friends who have digsby ???
That would be great, you can do it Steve!

  7. Steve Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 11:11 pm

    @David -

    1) donations - thank you for your kindness and the offer
    2) Audio/Video - we will add it in the future… it would have delayed launch and we really wanted to get digsby out there
    3) See/Send Email - a lot have asked for this. I’m amazed! We will add it in the near future but as with everything else we have done we need a little time to plan the usability aspects of it
    4) We thought about it but felt it would be “spamy” - email them, post on their walls on social networks, and IM them personally… we just didn’t want a “spam my 200 IM buddies option”

  8. DavidIQ Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 11:26 pm

Trying to run this after installing on a laptop running Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with an Athlon 64 processor. The program won’t even open up. I opened up Task Manager and tried opening Digsby while eyeballing the processes. Digsby shows up, climbs up to about 21.5MB of memory usage, then unloads itself. Going to see how it works out at work with the firewall in place. I have been getting the “Connection Lost” message with today’s early build release but i’ll have to confirm this.

  9. David Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 11:30 pm

Thanks for your super quick reply Steve.

How about my last but not least question:

    - Let’s say a facebook(or myspace) friend of mine uses Digsby and is connected to his facebook account on Digsby, since I am also connected on my facebook account on Digsby, I guess you can link us via our facebook social graph through our Gisby accounts.

Can you then make him appear along with my other contacts from MSN, Gtalk, AIM… so we can send IM ?

The idea would be, when you set up the facebook acount, you can choose to add the facebook (or myspace or whatever) IM feature.

    How abt that ??

  10. Steve Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 11:41 pm

    @David - an interesting idea…

  11. Victor Castillo Said,

    February 12, 2008 @ 11:56 pm

    Agree with David…

This idea already exists, myspace release its own IM client, it would be nice handle it with DBe (Digsby) and develop it for facebook =)

  12. AJ Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:05 am

I’d just like to say that Digsby is incredible and works rather well! But why is profile and away message text limited to one color and one style? I attempt to change either the color or style (italics, bold, etc) of specific selected text and it changes all of the text. Also the drop down smiley faces are missing the hyphen “-” which is needed for AIM users not using Digsby to see the chosen smiley face. In addition, could there be some shortcuts established similar to AIM to insert smileys? Something like a Control+# or Control+Shift+# combination? Thanks and keep up the outstanding work!

  13. Miguel Vadillo Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:14 am

I did the last upgrade, digsby ask me to restart it, and then when i try to get connected again, it tell me, “Cheking for updates” and then Digsby needs to restart… and so on. I cant get connected.
    Platform: Windows xp

  14. Corgan Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:27 am

I’ve got the same issue as Bill: “We are upgrading digby. Please try again in a few minutes”

Though granted I am trying to get Digby working under Wine. Just impatient I guess.

  15. Steve Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:00 am

@Corgan - you got farther than others who have tried (including us)… we have gotten success reports of digsby in VMWare Fusion on macs.

@Miguel - sending you an email so we can resolve this

  16. Corgan Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:12 am

    @Steve

Thanks for the response. And good to know! I’ll pass that on, but as a Linux and Wine guy I want to work at this as much as I can.

Any idea why we’re getting this response though or should I just keep trying? Don’t want to bombard you guys with requests if it’s a bug or due to a heavy server load.

  17. Bogdan Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:12 am

I still can’t send MSN IMs sometimes, and Digsby crashes for no apparent reason sometimes.

  18. Corgan Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:19 am

    @ Steve

Sorry for the double post! This may not be the place for it, but I’m in and for the first time the buddy list loads! Don’t know if this is from the addition of the gdiplus DLL I put in or the work you guys did in the updates, but it’s cool to be in :) Can’t add any accounts through the GUI yet, but I’m in.

  19. Richa Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:30 am

=) trying to log on still re-installed digsby again but still says connecting and then connection failed.

  20. Justin Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 2:49 am

Thanks for being so open about communicating with us about this. With that being said, all you have to do in order to make trillian DEAD to me is add the feature where IMs pop up in the system tray as a blinking icon rather than on the taskbar, or on the screen. Take your time getting to it, no rush - I just didn’t want it to slip your mind, as I believe a lot of people would back me up on this being an important feature. Thanks so much for your open mindedness.

  21. Claudio Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 3:04 am

    Sorry, but I can’t login.
I downloaded latest version, now I can see “We are upgrading digby. Please try again in a few minutes”…
I would try your product !!!
    Enjoy

  22. Kyanges Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 3:04 am

I have no idea why I could not send MSN messages with this build earlier. I have never had this problem before, and I recall seeing that this was fixed in an older build, making my encounter with this error especially odd. Fortunately, a few restarts of the program seems to have solved that issue. The other problem of hanging while loading the theme has been solved with this build as well. Who knows, maybe my computer is just prone to digging up the most obscure, and nearly inexplicable glitches that almost can never be replicated.

In any case, everything works now, and I can’t wait to see if this can finally make it through my campus firewall. If AIM’s own IM client can make it through, then this should be able to as well!

Any word on a slimmer, portable version of Digsby? Something that can run from a flash drive?

  23. Paul Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 3:25 am

Works really well with gmail (even my gmail account that uses my own @myaddress (as opposed to @gmail.com)…

But I have an aol email address that uses a @myaddress (not aol.com) but I don’t get an option to put this in on email preferences (defaults to a@aol.com)

Any chance of looking at this

BTW - digsby absolutely rocks! Thanks

  24. Steven Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 4:09 am

Things seem to be getting slightly better, but I’m still having problems talking to users MSN to MSN, it only seems this problem comes up when its the second conversation window i open with someone, message wont go through or their is a really long delay before my message comes up in the window as sent (recently just long delays)

Is there a debug file somewhere so when I have problems I can send an except from that log file?

  25. Alan Said,

My Yahoo e mail address hasn’t change from .com to co.uk is there anything I should do

  26. Nate Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 6:09 am

Some of the time when I enter a message it disppears. I can see my buddies message and they can see my text but each time I hit enter I don’t see anything. Loving the app! I actually am IM’ing more than ever now :) Great job.

  29. Jack Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 7:17 am

    Hi To @Bill:

Again from Uruguay, i tried everything to connect digsby yesterday and some part of today. The only solution that i find it was to put an older “restore point” of XP (”punto de restauración” i my language). With that the problem was solved and finally I get my buddy connected again.

    Keep on rockin’

  30. Ben Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 7:30 am

Minor suggestion - change the system tray icon depending on online status (i.e. turn it black-and-white when you’re completely offline, make the hat red when some networks aren’t connected, put up a sticky note when away, a clock when idle, etc.)

  31. Brett Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 7:32 am

Amazing program! This is a Trillian killer for me.

I would like to see window transparency settings and myspaceim. ;)

I’m getting the same error thats been mentioned a couple of other times: “We are upgrading digsby. Please try again in a few minutes.”

It works fine at home, but not from my office computer. Pidgin does work from here, so either they specifically unblocked it or pidgin is doing something different.

Other than that this product is great and I definitely plan to keep using it where I can connect.

  34. Sergio Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 8:28 am

I am running it behind a firewall and proxy. I have tried to set up it but the farthest I am getting is “We are upgrading digby. Please try again in a few minutes”.

I have also checked the open ports and it seems Digsby doesn’t go through the proxy ports (8080) I have selected in the connection set up..

    Any ideas?

  35. eia Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 8:34 am

I have to agree with Rodney further up: I’ve tried all (and I mean all) the multi-protocol IM clients out there, and DiB (aka DB, DBe) is the only one that has stuck for more than a day. You guys are on to something here!

And the idea that David had about facebook IM, just amazing!

  36. Warren Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 8:34 am

I love Digsby at home. Thanks so much for you work on this awesome app..finally an great multi-im for pc!!
After the updates I still can’t get through my corp proxy server. It tries to connect at I still get the “We are upgrading digby. Please try again in a few minutes”.

  37. Matt Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 8:39 am

I installed the latest update but Digsby is still hanging on “Loading Skin…” Help!

  38. Mike Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 8:48 am

  39. Steve Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 9:10 am

@ All with MSN IM Bug issue - we will take another stab at it today. We got some good diagnostic logs which will help us knock this one out for good!

    @ Corgan - nice job!

@ Richa - make sure your firewall is not blocking digsby. If you still have issues email us at bugs@digsby.com

@ Claudio - email us at bugs@digsby.com and we will help you resolve it

@ Kyanges - we will have a portable version at some point in the future

@ Paul - shoot us an email. I had no idea you could have AOL Email at your domain. We will resolve this issue for you!

@ Alan - Yahoo mail for UK addresses should work fine - the “yahoo.com” visual glitch was lower priority but will be solved soon

@ Beto - this is due to a unicode bug in the auto-update system which was resolved. Reinstall digsby and it should never happen again

@ Matt & Mike - shoot us an email at bugs@digsby.com and we will be glad to help

  40. Jan Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 9:42 am

sending msg @ msn still exists here, seems to happen when a IM windows is open for a long time with any action going on in it.

  41. lixoman100 Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 9:56 am

Digsby seems to be working great right now, thank you for all the updates!

The only things that seems to be missing right now are the buddy icons. I *think* one of the previous builds showed them to me (my friends’ photos on the buddy list) but right now all there is is the Digsby icon. I am sure it is not a firewall issue; what could it be?

  42. Jack Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 10:00 am

I couldn’t get connected with my email acount (hotmail), the IM of that account works fine but i can get any information about the news mails.
I have to change to the MSN Messenger to check it. This is not a trouble for me but if you fix it (or at least tell me how to do it, sometimes i’m just silly).
I’ll be able to unistall the Hell’s Gates MSN and don’t need it anymore.
I use Windows but something it’s something.

a kiss to all of us.

  43. ben Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 10:53 am

Went to start Digsby today and it installed the new updates and it got past the “Loading Skin” screen. So thats the great. The only problem that still exists is that it won’t sign into google talk. I was having this problem before the latest fix as well. Anyone else having this happen?

  44. DavidIQ Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 11:04 am

    Steve,

Could it be possible for you to publish the build number in future posts about build releases? That way it can be matched up with the build number shown in the about box and we can more easily figure out which build we’re running especially since the software auto-updates itself.

  45. Jornsby Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 11:23 am

I uninstalled and reinstalled DBe at work so all the latest updates would be present.

I’m happy to see that I no longer am stuck at “Connection Lost.”

Though now the program just sits at “Connecting…”

    Any thoughts?

  46. Steve Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 11:37 am

@Jan - working on it now.

@lixoman & Jack - submit a diagnostic log using “Help” > “Submit Bug Report” and we will resolve it ASAP

@ben - it may be a firewall issue. Try changing Gtalk to port 443

@Jornsby - shoot us an email at bugs@digsby.com and we will look into it

  47. Bill Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 11:59 am

    I’m a different Bill.

Digsby seems to work great on my Vista laptop, but will not install on my wife’s XP Pro laptop; AVG antivirus identifies it as a Virus 100% of the time and deletes it. Compaq Athlon 64+ Mobile (1.6Ghz), running XP Pro, all updates, latest AVG with current AV defs.

On my Vista machine, it’s great, and I’m really impressed. That said, anyway that you folks can turn on the MSN (and other) Video call/telephone call options? When I’m travelling, that’s important to me and my wife so that we can actually have FACE time together as opposed to only IMing. If you did, Digsby would be my ONLY IM/EMAIL/etc. client on my laptop and probably one of only two on my desktop.

    Thanks!

  48. ben Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 11:59 am

Sorry, what if port 443 doesn’t work. I just tried it and it didn’t. Any other last ditch suggestions? Thanks again.

  49. Daniel Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:09 pm

Your customer service model rocks. The megacorps should start taking notes.

    It works wonderfully from home.

Unfortunately, Digsby still doesn’t get past the Connection Lost error even after uninstalling and reinstalling from the new build.

  50. Cailin Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:28 pm

@ Ben & Steve - I’m having a problem logging in to Gtalk also. I’ve tried the default port (5222, which I think my work blocks) and port 443, as well as a bunch of others (80, 8080, 5190, 5050) and nothing works. All my other IM accounts (AIM & Yahoo) work fine though.

  51. Tim Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:36 pm

First off I would just like to say that Digsby is awesome! I’ve experienced only one problem though and that is that when I’m at work facebook just says connecting, but doesn’t ever connect. Any ideas? Thanks, keep up the great work.

    Tim

  52. Clif Notes Said,

I have a newsletter where I review new software. Would it be possible to get an invite key from you?

I apologize for posting it here.
I didn’t see anywhere else to ask.

    Good luck to you all.

  53. Juan Jose Said,

I loved the program so far, feels solid and responsive!

    Keep it up!

  54. Juan Jose Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 12:47 pm

    the correct message is:

“We are upgrading Digsby. Please try connecting again in a few minutes.”

  55. Steve Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:02 pm

@All with gtalk bug - check if your CPU is at 100%. If it is email bugs@digsby.com. We have a fix but need to test with a few people before pushing it to everyone.

@All with “we are upgrading digsby” - your firewall is killing the connection to our server and since the connection dies after successfully being made the client things it was a digsby server error. Please make sure that either 5555/5222 are open or that your firewall allows non-http traffic over 443 or 80

  56. Juan Jose Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:13 pm

What if my firewall doesnt allow non-http traffic over 80?

  57. chris Said,

    Hi Digsby peoples!

First off, thanks for a great program.

Secondly, I can log on to MSN, but I cannot see any of my buddies. This happened after digsby grabbed yesterdays update. People can IM me, and I can IM them back, but none show up on the buddy list page. *sad panda* I do have an @msn address.

gtalk, aim, yahoo, and icq are all appearing on my buddy list and working correctly.

  58. chris Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:19 pm

I did submit a bug report, btw.

  59. Juan Jose Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 1:24 pm

Something i noticed is that my company proxy allows traffic to anything with https, gmail, etc (sadly, nor hotmail nor yahoo have a https implementation, only login)

Im guessing that is because since it is encripted, the sniffer cannot know whats going on. (wild wild wild guess)

  60. Mike Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 2:38 pm

I’m having issues connecting to a corporate jabber server. Works fine with Pidgin. I’ve verified the configuration is the same across both.

Is there a connection log or a debug log I can look at to help pinpoint where the issue might be?

  61. Sergio Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 2:55 pm

I have the same problem than Juan Jose. Is it possible you can encrypt the data from Digsby to your servers? Could it be a way to trick my company proxy?

  62. Tim Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 2:55 pm

Not sure where this belongs, so I’ll just post here.
I was wondering what other people were noticing the mem usage for digsby was? I checked mine, and when i first stsaart up it’s around 50,000k, then after it loads everything it stopped around 73,000k, and then about 30-45 minutes later I hcekced and it was between 90-100,000k. Is this normal, or is that high? I Have aim, google talk, 4 e-mail accounts, and a facebook account linked to it.

  63. Sulli Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 3:07 pm

I was able to get gTalk to connect only through port 80. If I changed it to one of the other gTalk ports (5222, 5223, 443) it would not connect. The interesting thing is that I know that my work is not blocking 5223 because I can get Trillian to connect to gTalk through that port, and I believe that they are not blocking 443 either.

What is happening for me when I have gTalk set to 443 or 5223 is that it instantly says could not connect. It doesn’t even try. It is as if Digsby sees that the port is not 5222 or 80 and just says no. It never says “Connecting …”

I love Digsby, it has replaced Trillian for me. Thanks and keep up the great work.

    Sulli

  64. Ethan Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 4:01 pm

Great job, keep up the good work. This may very well replace Trillian and Pidgin! My only concern is the large mem print, but I figure you guys are working on that since it’s still beta and you want to play around with optimization first.

    Anyways, THNX!

  65. digi Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 4:44 pm

I just wish digsby would stay docked on the left side of my screen when I reboot. When I reboot, it always shows up back on the right. (Vista Ultimate)

And it won’t autohide on boot up either. I have to click it, then click on another window to make it inactive.

    Love the app otherwise.

  66. Steve Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 4:48 pm

@Tim - our biggest priority right now besides bugs is optimization. The memory usage will come down significantly

@All - we will have a forum up shortly so we can facilitate the back and forth more efficiently

    Found a Bug.

For some reason right now, I’m in a conversation window, I enter text to send, but it does not send after pressing ‘enter’. I can retype, close the window and try again.. same result. :S

  70. Mike Said,

    February 13, 2008 @ 7:29 pm

I finally got jabber connectivity working. (PEBKAC).

However, I can’t find where to join a conference room. Is this a supported feature currently or expected for a future release.

BTW, I know this isn’t a tech support forum, but there isn’t one yet. :D Looking forward to a forum to work out these details.

    Found a Bug.

For some reason right now, I’m in a conversation window, I enter text to send, but it does not send after pressing ‘enter’. I can retype, close the window and try again.. same result. :S

Happens to me sometimes as well, and to a friend of mine.

  75. Sean Said,

Digsby really needs better File Transfer support. Also, Direct Connect for AIM would be nice.

Spell check/dictionary would be a a good idea, too.

When logging in my buddy list always appears on the far right, i have dual monitors and this is a pain when i dont have my 2nd turned on. Is there a way to change this?
awesome program, keep up the good work guys

  77. Steve Said,

@McoreD - we got that one… pushing in next update

@Sean - once we wrap up the connectivity bugs we will take a close look at knocking the file transfer bugs (direct connect will be added for sure)

@Nick - send a diagnostic log using “Help” > “Submit Bug Report” and we will resolve this ASAP.

    Hey Steve,

Is the myspaceIM protocol unavailable or impossible to manipulate with 3rd party programs?
(Sorry if this question is obvious to some more knowledgeable)

That’d really put trillian and others in the coffin to me.

  80. sloth Said,

Hey, I just started using Digsby today and think it’s quite great so far.. however, something that bugs me hard is that I can’t specify a display name for my ICQ account what means that I always get my ICQ number displayed in IM sessions.. that sucks :

  81. Steve Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 9:29 am

@Brett - MySpaceIM has not been added in quite yet

@sloth - working on that bug today :)

Nice work. Digsby is working nicely, but have a couple of bugs / suggestions:

    - Facebook says “connecting” all the time and doesn’t retrieve anything from FB.
    - it would be nice to add some kind of Twitter/Pownce/jaiku (THAT kind of network support -add Netvibes, Bebo status, etc etc)
    - It would also be nice to have more windows configuration, both for the buddy list and for the notifications, as hide when not in focus and close (so only the tray icon remains).
    - Some kind of unification between IM notification and IM chat windows would be nice. I’m love with the notification windows that lets you reply, but that one is replaced with the tipical I-won’t-go-away-if-you-don’t-close-me IM window as soon as a conversation is established.

Anyway, great work!! keep it going!!

I saw someone asked this earlier, but it has yet to be answered. Does Digsby support Jabber MUC? (conferences) This functionality is critical to my use of this application. Thanks.

  85. Luke Said,

Digsby works at home on my XP Home computer, and at work on XP computers, but not on my office Vista machine, which is the one I use primarily. Any ideas why it would work on a network using the same settings only difference being XP vs. Vista?

  86. Luke Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 11:28 am

Oh, when I say it won’t work I mean it gets to the Connecting…stage then waits about a minute maybe a minute and a half and then tells me “We are upgrading Digsby. Please try connecting again in a minute”

  87. Steve Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 12:57 pm

@Dave - we disabled multiuser chat on all protocols because it was buggy but it is there and will come back soon :)

@Luke - it is either a firewall issue at your end or the connectivity bug we are working on right now.

  88. Dan Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 1:14 pm

When I am in an MSN conversation, other contacts are being randomly joined to my conversation. This has occurred several times this morning already, in both outbound (started by me) and inbound conversations.

Awesome work fixing the MSN messages not sending bug, btw. Very cool.

  89. Luke Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 1:34 pm

Alright I’ll look into the firewall possibility, thanks for the speedy reply

  90. Chris Said,

Is IRC Chat client support in the works? Currently I use Miranda as my all encompassing chat client because it has IRC support, which I still use. I could run Digsby + mIRC separately, but it would be awesome if it was added in.

  91. Tim Said,

I’m also getting the “We are upgrading digsby. Please try again in a few minutes” error. Connecting through HTTP proxy..

  92. Eric Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 9:28 pm

I love Digsby! Works great at my office. But at home I get either “Failed to Connect” or “We are upgrading digsby. Please try again in a few minutes.” How can I connect through proxy?

Also, I can’t open POP e-mails — I can only delete them. When I click on Open, nothing happens.

  93. Cat Said,

    February 14, 2008 @ 10:15 pm

    Awesome support!!

One more error that I just encountered: I have my msn set up so that if someone adds me as a contact, I have to approve it. I added a new user today, but I didn’t receive the approval message for them to add me, so I had to log back in to Windows Live Messenger, approve the new contact, and then go back to Digsby.

  94. Gene Said,

Steve, Gary Belyalovsky introduced me to Digsby, and I’ve got to say. I love the fade in/out pops for quick replies. It’s those little things that make the end-user experience superb.

However, I can’t for the life of me find a way to turn off the flashing window in the taskbar whenever a message arrives. Thanks for listening!

Minor bug: In an IM, when the text box to type in is resized (made larger) and then the box is minimized and then restored, the text box size reverts back to the single line. It should retain the adjusted size on restore. This also happens when you switch between IM tabs.

Thanks for all the hard work guys!

…so Digsby with Firewall with port 8080 doesn’t work at the moment?

    Right?

I’m using Digsby at home and it is awesome, but I want to use it also at work!

    i’m gonna be crazy @_@

  97. gcstang Said,

Is there an option to select multiple users and send a message? I had this in another IM at one time but hardly ever see it in any others. This feature is really helpful when you mainly use your IM to talk to others in your shop through a distributed location.

Awesome work!!! Thank you for such a great product.

@rob - The installer sits on S3 which seems to be down! We didn’t think we would see the day… we moved it to our web server so you should be able to download without a problem.

@Sghicetto - We are working on the last of the proxy/firewall bugs right now

  102. Brett Said,

    Hey Steve,
Maybe you guys programmed it this way intentionally,

But I noticed one is not notified when a somebody connects through the web widget. Is this a glitch? If not it’d be really nice if we could set it to show a notification when somebody connects to the web widget, same as if a contact signed on.

  103. Brett Said,

    February 15, 2008 @ 10:09 am

    PS

    Regarding the web widget,
When I have an auto-response enabled while away and I am contacted from the web widget, the auto-response does not execute.

absolutely love this program! Only thing, is I wish my Pronto would work in digsby, but I know I am asking too much there. I wouldn’t know what server Pronto uses to connect to our classmates either.

I had trouble connecting to jabber/gtalk too lastnight, but its working this morning fine. names are showing up as email addresses though is the only thing.

but yeah I too would love to see facebook IM worked in, and myspace IM, although I don’t care so much about myspace personally because all I ever get over there are spam friend requests, nobody “real” ever talks to me over there :(

my wife was saying something about, she doesn’t like the picture of the apple, instead of her avatar, in ICQ, but otherwise I think she enjoyed the program too very much. I absolutely love that black feature in the skins, because I am legally blind and can see black much better over the white background due to contrast issues I have with my eyes :) I’ll test this program out later with Jaws and Zoomtext, that was my next step was to test it with screen readers, since thats my biggest complaint with Trillian

No update before the weekend? (yes, we’re getting spoiled with all these latest updates :))

  106. Steve Said,

    February 15, 2008 @ 1:13 pm

@Brett - we did this intentionally so you are not bombarded with popups. Perhaps we will add a separate notification for widgets so you can choose whether or not to receive them.

@eia - haha we were going to push one but there is some proxy stuff we still need to resolve and we want to get it into this update. Perhaps an update during the weekend if we can wrap this up quickly.

I can’t seem to get the link to suggest features to work, so I’m posting my only suggestion here.

I’d like to see how Digsby links to gmail messages changed. When I click on the message it takes me to the email in the minimalist view, which lacks an archive button. The email then also disappears from Digsby’s list, so I have to open up my inbox in a browser and archive the email from there.

The new email lets you link to messages so that they will be displayed in the standard gmail view instead of that old message-only view. I’d much prefer to have my emails open with all the typical gmail controls around them. Maybe then I could stop leaving my inbox open in a firefox tab once and for all.

  108. Alex Said,

I have not had many problems with Digsby, but that strange MSN IM bug still seems to exist. I can IM again only after a restart of Digsby, but after a while, it does happen again.

I am really impressed with this program. It is the perfect way to keep in touch and be notified of new things instead of having to constantly check. I just take a quick peek at what my friends did for the day via the Facebook feature of Digsby, and my e-mail is checked just as quickly!

    Having Yahoo Messenger connection problems.

It will not connect due to firewall internally here. I have tried ports 5050, 80, 443 and several others suggested, with no connecting. I had the same trouble with Trillian.

I can get Messenger on its own to connect by saying that we use a firewall, no proxy . . .

    Any suggestions?

    Love Digsby so far!

  112. PraveenNet Said,

I’m behind corporate proxy. Digsby just doesn’t connect but always fails with msg ‘Failed to connect’.
I’ve given the proxy details in connection settings, still no use.

The same work fine when i’m connecting from home (obviously!)

    1. What else could be wrong? Can you give detailed procedure to setup proxy details in digsby
    2. Is there a possibility that digsby is blocked by the proxy (what the url and port digsby connects to, when loggin in)?

  113. MDW Said,

2 things: will you be adding LinkedIn support? Also, there is an app called Pronto, used for educational institutions that I’d love to see support for. Hate having to run 2 messengers, even if it will only be for the duration of 1 semester. Continuing education is important, ya know.

Otherwise, I’d like to commend you guys on a job very, very well done. We look forward to future releases and plan on making this a pick of the month in June on our site. Down to a man / woman we’ve all ditched Miranda, Pidgin, Trillian and whatever the hell else we had running in favor of this app. Again, excellent work.

Digsby is great, but I cannot connect to MSN. It worked fine for awhile, I even tried another similar App but it said the “MSN servers are temporarily unavailable.” Yet, Windows Live Messenger connects fine.
