Build 75 – Holiday Hoopla!

We just pushed a new release (Build 75, r25261) to all users!  We’ve made some big changes to Digsby making it faster and better than ever!  This release includes all the features, bug fixes and enhancements in Builds 71,  72, and 75 on our Change Log.  Notable changes include:

  • Crash Fixes: Thanks to the help of our dedicated testers who have been running the DEBUG version, we fixed the most common crash causing bugs in Digsby.  Based on the volume of crash reports, we expect Digsby to crash for less than 0.1% of users on any given day.  Now that’s solid!
  • Memory Leaks: We took some time to hunt down and fix the most serious memory leaks in Digsby, many of which were introduced in the new Twitter implementation.  This will improve performance significantly when running Digsby for an extended period of time or on older machines.
  • Twitter: We fixed numerous issues with Twitter including tweets being show out of order, incorrect unread counts, connection issues, etc.  It is still a work in progress and we’ll continue to improve our Twitter implementation.
  • Block Indicator: Blocked buddies now show a “blocked” icon where their status icon would normally appear on the buddy list.
  • Win 7: We added support for aero snapping and fixed several windows 7 specific bugs.  We will release more Win 7 enhancements in the next build including jump lists and badges on the taskbar icon.
  • And More: Over 100 other bug fixes and enhancements!

We will keep pushing to make Digsby even better and want to thank all of you for your continued feedback and support.  If you want to tell the world about the Digsby, here are some ways you can help:

If you experience any bugs in this release, please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us.

Update (12/9/2009 2:45pm EST): Facebook is having issues with their API servers, which is causing the newsfeed to fail to connect for some users.  This will fix itself when they resolve the problem on their end.

Like several others here, I canNOT fathom why formatting for individual words isn't implemented. It's such a basic part of every other client I've ever used (AIM, Trillian, Pidgin, and on and on and on) that I STILL find myself expecting CTRL-I to italicize what I'm about to type, instead of THE WHOLE FREAKING TEXTBOX.

"Well, I hope in your next release you include more conversation skins, Google Wave support, the ability to colorize your awesome Windows 7 theme, and more sounds" Quote from Kareem

What about release a Linux & Mac version?
  • Lucas tha Geek
Please speed up development on the Linux version!
  • alin
Please make the possibility to send files to offline users. Many of my friends stay invisible all the time on Yahoo Messenger and I can't send them files using Digsby... So, I gave up on Digsby for now...
  • @Digsby
Okay these Windows 7 fixes are nice but could you guys please try to speed up devolopment on the Linux & Mac versions? We've been waiting a year and still have heard no word on when it'll be released. We are starting to feel like second-class citizens because we (Mac + Linux users) make about about 10% of the OS market share nowadays.

Adam - the TOTAL Digsby Freak
  • Ilya
Are you going to implement "new style" retweets? Currently re-tweets done through Digsby don't actually appear as retweets on the Twitter webpage (they're just preceded by RT like before Twitter introduced re-tweet support)
  • vaughan
I'm on Win 7 x64 Ultimate, just got the latest update and Digsby continues to crash after several minutes. Very disapppointing, I really, really want to love Digsby. =(
  • Kittyburgers
    "native" 64bit version :)
  • Kittyburgers
I'd really love to see a true naive 64bit version.
  • Best whishes for you~!I like it~
  • We want support of jabber conference! ;)
  • Another good release of Digsby, it makes me glad. You guys are doing an awesome job there, and I hope your next release turns out major in fixes and new features.

Well, I hope in your next release you include more conversation skins, Google Wave support, the ability to colorize your awesome Windows 7 theme, and more sounds, 2 just don't do it for all what Digsby has to offer.

I also wanna be able to resize Facebook / Email mini-boxes in case the content gets overwhelming (could use that). And... well, that's it for now. Keep it up, Digsby <3
  • I appreciate the opportunity to have a service like digsby, however I must say it is on my computer and takes up memory. I am in need of memory. I have been noticing it is not connecting some accounts I have. I also would love it if the users can add more accounts than FB or twitter. There are Ning sites and there are also other social networking sites that I am sure may be added.
  • [deXter]
Does anyone have the direct link to this build? My autoupdate feature doesn't work (I'm running Digsby in Linux)
  • Dave
Hmm, more specifically - my contacts on facebook chat seem okay (including mouse rollover), but when I click on the tray icon, the popup says "Connecting" followed shortly by "Connection Lost".
  • Dave
Same here - Digsby has been unable to connect to Facebook since the update (no, not even once, not even a little bit). Since some users are able to connect, I'm not convinced it's FB's API instead of some platform-dependent issue in the latest release - but that's just me...
  • Snake
@Dan, As already mentioned previously, Facebook is having issues with their API, it is on their side, as soon as they get it fixed, it will work for Facebook Social Network in Digsby.
  • Dan
I'm having problems with Facebook this morning. Digsby can't make a connection at all. :-( I've tried restarting Digsby and I still get "connection lost" when it tries to connect.
  • Dawn
Thanks! As others have mentioned, the thing that seems to be sorely missing from Digsby that other clients have is a group chat functionality. Any word on when that might become an operational function of Digsby?
  • i like digsby
  • Arjun
There's still one issue that is pending to be solved for quite long now & I have been requesting the same for a long long time..

The issue is that the compose button doesn't work on the pop-up window when we point at a MSN/Hotmail account on buddy list.
It opens up to the sign-in page, but not to the composing message page after auto sign-in, like for the inbox button.

    PLS FIX THIS ASAP.

Also awaiting a mobile version (on S60 V5 platform). :)
  • Jeff
Great but now all you need is the ability to have group convos in MSN
  • Mack
Had to temporarily disable Spyware Doctor & Threatfire to install the update, but it worked.
  • C, Said
aw nevermind msn offline messages failures are at it again :(
  • Chad
So I really enjoy the program and I look forward to the great progress you guys make, I know this has been said a few times already but I'll add it again but I will enjoy these features myself.

    1)Conference/group chat
    2)compatible with mac and linux
    3)skype support

also for me, the more I can customize it the better it is. So far you guys are doing terrific but it could be a lot cleaner IMO (sounds in particular).
  • Armine
Thanks, Digsby is teh best. I like its notification system and interface
  • Snake
    @Kelly, (message dated: December 10, 2009 @ 10:55 am)

Facebook API is abit wonky their side, soon as it's resolved, it'll work in digsby again.

As for the IM's minimized, goto the Main Digsby Window, Tools, Preferences (CTRL + P). In Prefs window, Conversations Tab, Window Section, "New Conversations Window" choose from the drop-down menu "start minimized in taskbar", click Done, then your all set.
  • Sam
I swear by Digsby, honestly, but there are some missing features I have simply never understood. Please add support for italicizing/bolding single words. Please add chat rooms.

Other than that, you've basically got it all in my book.
  • pidginftw
Stop spamming me with notifications and emails. I will get the updates when I restart it and I always vote against Digsby.
  • I love it - Please add SKYPE though!
  • James Chapman
in the next update let us connect with Tumbr and add a Skype chat.

    1)Group Chats
    2)File Transfers
3)Image Display similar to MSN LIVE
4)sync with the popular calendar programs. I want a popup reminder when a close event coming through my digsby.
    5)Tumbr connection
    6)Skype support
    7) be able to mix and match skins
    8) design your own layout and skins
  • sayed
thank for all digsby is great
  • pdx_phreek
Love Digsby, would love a Linux and Android version!

Facebook has been very off and on w/ me lately as well.
  • Zak
Another Linux user here waiting for a release. I'm using Jolicloud (Ubuntu-based), and it really does need something like Digsby to tie it off as the best OS I've ever used. Pidgin just doesn't do it for me.

Come on, Digsby, you guys would blow the Linux competition out of the water.
  • [token plea for supporting inline formatting; why can't I make just one word bold?]
  • Glimpy
    Tx!

I am using it for 6 months new and, . . . hat off! perfect.

Finally a client covering most of my daily "always on" applications.

Skype would be nice and in Holland and Belgium www.hyves.nl (the dutch facebook) is "World" famous for locals. So if its not too much work . . . and you have nothing to do . . .would be "a nice to have"!!!! ;-))

  • @Mark My company has been on a Digsby/Openfire config for well over a year with no issues. I don't know that we're running the latest Openfire version though...

You might be experiencing a firewall or account settings issue.

    Good luck,
    Tim
  • keylock
Facebook is always connecting, but nothings happened... It was ok before the update!
  • Digsby
Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! We'll keep pushing to make Digsby even better and hear you loud and clear on the priorities.
  • JJ
Awesome, Digsby is the best client I have used (and I have used alot of them). Just waiting (as patiently as I can) for group chat/broadcast and Skype support.

    Keep it up. :)
  • Ian Patrick Co
Hi, how about adding a Google Chrome extension? I've read in the news one could make one in under 5 minutes and it's not just a "Hello World" but a mail checker. Maybe a Digsby IM checker perhaps.
  • duepayer
Mac...version...please! *holding on for dear life*
  • You are the best Digsby.
    Thank you.
  • Kelly
Since the upgrade, the status update for facebook won't connect. Also, any way to keep new IM's from popping up on the screen? I use Digsby at work and often have clients in my office and don't want an IM popping up in the middle of a discussion! Messenger allows new IM's to load straight to the taskbar.
  • pxd
    We need conference/group chat yeah.
Oh, by the way, can you make a 'resizable' window when a new contact requested to be 'authorised and add'? I have 30 accounts and I need to untick one by one so that it doesn't ask my friend to add all my other 29 accounts.

*I hope it can be defaulted to only that particular account selected as well if possible. Or a 'uncheck all' option would be nice.

And also, I have no idea which contact is connected to which ID of mine, so I am always trying all accounts to send out one IM successfully, which in result, facing difficulties when I am having so many accounts at the same time.

Thanks so much for this great app~!

(DO response to me at my email if possible.)
  • Cheryl Hudson
    Thank you.
  • Paul Danziger
When is the release for the Mac?
  • CraigInChicago
Love this application. Have been using it for almost a year now and it is great. Keep up the good work.

Would love to see group chat support :).
  • Snake
I agree with the comments already posted, when is the Bold / Italic / Underline going to be fixed, need to be able to specify a certain word, not the entire message.

File Send & Webcam support needs to be resolved, not many people who are using MSN/ICQ/Yahoo can accept files/view Webcam, unless they also use Digsby at the same time, & even then it won't always go through.

Other than them couple of issues, Digsby rocks, never use any other client unless I'm trying to Webcam or File Send.
  • Marcelo
Lo utilizo todo el tiempo y es muy eficiente Gracias.
  • cpon
Thanks digsby team, your twitter function is my favorite app to use. looking forward for more twitter related improvements!
  • Pontus
Nice work, trying it out immediately :D
  • Nahum
    1)Group Chats
    2)File Transfers
3)Image Display similar to MSN LIVE
4)sync with the popular calendar programs. I want a popup reminder when a close event coming through my digsby.
  • fernan fuertes
upgrading will be fine.. i vote for it.. go!!
  • fernan fuertes
me too, i love digsby. perfect!!
  • Mark
Digsby still does't work with OpenFire Jabber server (tested with version 3.6.4). It disconnects right after login. Trillian, Pidgin and a lot of others programs work fine with OpenFire. This bug was reported a year ago and still not fixed.
  • Babcia Franka
Still waiting for a Gadu-Gadu support... I know you can do it!
  • mcrin
Ditto the request for group chat and ability to change the font on a character basis...please up the priority on these before doing anymore twitter/facebook/myspace/whatever updates.
  • Guillaume
This program doesn't stand a chance in IM messaging when updates like these are considered 'major releases' while there actually are no new features and bugs months and months old are still untouched. Just as an example, for Miranda, this would be a 0.0.x update. I think something radical should happen to this piece of software in order to become genuinely successful, like making it an open-source project. Development is simply too slow.

Furthermore, the update - once again - removed all the to-be-updated files without copying the new ones to the program folder. Happens simply EVERY time I get an update...
  • Thanks a lot for fixes
  • Spacf
Hi. Congratulations to Digsby team. Now I'm waiting to see digsby running on linux......
  • miki
    Great
    what about 1) video conference?
    2)icq sms?
    3)and skype userlist?
Is it something that digsby work on?
    Thanks you
  • Nico
I'm excited about the new Windows 7 features in an upcoming build :)
  • check out my web site, oops eRrr.. yes I do use Digsby on my web site and it would be wonderful if the widgets could minimise as the Olark one does ( yes I know it's not your's here is yours Digsby ) http://www.treezone.co.nz/ndex...
Digsby is open when whindow start here 24/7 and QQ that's what I have been using since I found your wonderful IM & social network.
With over 400 people to chat to a "chat room widget" would be nice too.
www.meebo.com has rooms and QQ 2009 internetnational does also
I only use Meebo when I'm at an internet cafe` and below is the QQ 2009 download site QQ inter` is used by almost everyone in china and around the would as a total communication tool so would be nice to replicate QQ's features in Digsby and link to the QQ im through Digsby.
I am mdbobbo on almost all instant messengers as I have taken the role of brokering free2use&free2keep software and general an online helper in many aspects of the OS systems up to Vista and beginners web guru
here's the QQ program download link

  • Ruben
Can you remain logged to a MSN account even if it's being used simultaneously from another site (eg a mobile device)? I thought that was fixed in the latest MSN clients but it doesn't work with Digsby. THanks.
  • Agree. Please give us skype integration.
  • Ken
PreUpdater.exe still fails in Win7. Digsby starts to automatically update and then crashes. I have to reinstall disby every time you guys come out with a new build. Any word on when this will be fixed?
  • alh84001
Yay! Can't wait for jump list and badges. Next up should be Zune nowplaying support :)
  • Y! multiple files transfer
    Hi,
    Great job!

Still, there is a bug in transferring multiple files.
Yahoo messenger allows for a group of files to be transferred in one mouse drag'n'drop. When this is done, Digsby transfers the correct number of files with the correct names, but they are all the same - the first one in the list of dropped files. Can you fix this pls, it's kinda' frustrating :)

Oh, and I use your debug version and I got the announcement about this Build 75 but I was not asked if I want it to be downloaded/installed.. Is it the expected behavior?

    10x,
    C
  • yolarrydabomb
only thing I dont like its the pop up notifications. wish you guys give me the ability to resize it smaller.
  • Abbas
A request to Digsby team, please put some option so we can see avatar of ppl we're chatting to right now. Like avatar in chat window (same to msn/yahoo) etc

    thanks
  • Diego Guidi
nest step, google wave notifier!!!! please add support :)
  • Zoarob
    Skype, please.
  • dancri
Would be great to add also a hierarchical groups display (groups within the groups) so we can really say Digsby is better also than Exodus in the jabber world.

If you want Digsby to be used in Enterprise you got to add the hierarchical groups display!

    Thanks!
  • Alienne
Ah, never mind! I just restarted Digsby and now it's downloading the updates :)
  • Alienne
Can somebody help me out with my problem? Why is it that the latest build hasn't been installed on my Digsby? When I check "About Digsby", it still says "Build 24920", not 25261. I checked for options that perhaps disable auto-updating, but I didn't see any such thing. Should I reinstall Digsby now or is there a way to apply the update without losing my current settings?

    Please do help! Thanks guys!
  • Mythreyee
Love Digsby! Rock on, guys! \m/
  • Bob lob law
Stop adding stupid things and give us a way to opt out of dumb notifications for fixes to the stupid things!!

    Pllox?
  • geoff
i love digsby too .. but for some reason my IM boxes dont come up once in awhile .. i dont know why. then it works.. then it doesnt...
  • Ravi
Ah, yes. A manual update option in the preferences instead of auto currently.
  • Ravi
I would like to see the following in Digsby :

    * Connect All IMs (button or menu item)
    * Disconnect All IMs (button or menu item)
    * Check All Emails (button or menu item)
    * Multi-level buddy grouping (Service->Accounts->Groups->Buddies). Currently we have Service->Buddes
  • Dasarp
    Abhinav,

I had the same problem of digsby taking aroundd 10 secs from the time i clicked on the icon in the system tray to when the window loaded with my contacts.
However, I unchecked facebook from under "Social Networks" (in preferences), while still keeping it under "IM Accounts", and the problem's gone. I can still chat with my fbook contacts, I just can't check facebook newsfeed updates, etc now, but a faster disgby is worth it.
  • Boon
Thanks for Digby. I'm french from Reunion Island (sorry for my english) and want to use my webcam with my friend in Tahiti but it bugs each time. Please how to do ?
  • @Ran: yeah, I noticed FB appearing and disappearing after the update... it's one of the main reasons for my Digsby :')
  • Thanks.....
    thank you very much
    I love digsby.
  • Hell yeah! Thx for update!

    Greetings from Russia!
  • Carol
Hi, I love digsby with all my heart. But there's this one thing, if only i could access my skype on digsby, it would make me happier.
  • Starr
Thank you.. the crashes were getting annoying. I do have two ideas though. 1) Let us edit what categories our contacts are in when they';re offline. Currently I have to wait for them to be online in order to move them to a new category. 2) Add CafeMom chat
  • Dishant Sharma
Kindly make a low bandwidth version that can connect to dial up connection(2Kb/s) within 2 seconds and give all updates. Make a small browser to read email without opening it in full browser.
  • Sudheesh
failed to connect to facebook and twitter account after update on my windows 7 ultimate machine.windows 7 alpha build welcome for testing..
  • Om Soni
Thanks for your amazing software. But there should be support for Orkut and rediff so that it may be the best and all in one software. Kindly try to include these two so that we don't have to use any other software for that.
  • Awesome guys! Now... still waiting for AIM's direct connect feature! Maybe even Get File too :)
  • flfny
Love all the Win7 plans. Hopefully Digsby wil stop crashing everytime my computer goes to standby mode now. Keep up the good work.
  • NoirRaven
I also see the fragging reminders haven't been changed either. They still only have settings for EVERYBODY, instead of the individual user. Jesus H Christ, what have you guys actually done that matters here?
  • NoirRaven
Back in SEPTEMBER, I was told that the text background tab was disabled because; "The change was in preparation of letting you set different background color, font color, bold, italics, etc. for different parts of the message. That functionality has not been enable yet though but will be soon."

And I see this still hasn't been implemented yet. What the hell is taking you guys so long?! Over 100 "enhancements" and this is the one you forget about?! I'm tired of having a blinding white text box at the bottom of my window (I have a dark theme for everything) and don't bother telling me that's what you have now, cause it's not. What you have now is a black HIGHLIGHT.

There's no reason why this should be taking so long. I know it may seem like a minor feature but honestly, how the hell did this not make it to the TOP 100 list of priorities?! Fix this. Now.
  • Dakotah
Hello, i have one Recommendation for windows 7.. if i pin your program to the task bar. when i double click it it opens a new pin. it would be nice if it stayed in the original.
i can send you a picture if you request it!

Thanks, other than that minor problem you have been Great!
  • em_alli
I agree with Jackie, Porfirio Reyes, C.G and Jay. One of major feature needed is Conference, chat with multiple contact or chat room support.
Digsby is the best. and one note, trillian is digsby most competitive rival.
  • Ohh please stop forcing the upgrade..

31.2 kbps dialup here!!! Allow us to choose please... Nothing worse than a crash and then waiting for a long long long time while the update happens.. (gotta love that 31.2 kbps dialup)

Thanks again for a great product.. (ps.. nice to see support having a forward position within your company.. Something others should learn from..)
