Build 72 – Private Alpha Release

We just pushed an update to alpha testers (Build 72, r24777) which introduces more bug fixes building on the last alpha release.  As always, you can read the entire list of enhancements on our Change Log.

If you experience any issues please use “Help > Send Bug Report” in the main menu to submit a diagnostic log or email us at bugs@digsby.com.

If you would like to become an alpha tester and get new releases before everyone else, download this file and place it in the main program folder. Keep in mind that as an alpha tester you may get a release with a few bugs every now and then.  We are looking for people who are proactive in reporting these issues so we can fix them before builds go out to all users.

I am using Win7 - why does Twitter only show a link to TIMELINE and then open a seperate window? No posts show up when I Mouseover.
  • Mike
Millenniumfever, i'm sure it is at the "very top of the to do list" just like pretty much everything else..i bet acting on any of the requested features of the "to do list" is at the very top of the to do list itself...for a year now.

I really would like to see a ping.fm compatibility feature. It would make Digsby be able to reach out to a HUGE network (http://ping.fm/networks/) without much of the legwork.

There is a way to have this work through GTalk using Pidgin and it could help in developing a solution. (http://pidgin.im/pipermail/support/2009-February/003150.html)

I really would like to see more IM network support for niche applications like xFire or the okcupid IM network.

Regarding the ability to use a proxy server to connect to a network, Pidgin allows you to set proxy settings for each individual service. This means if AIM is blocked at your workplace you could use a proxy without logging out of your profile to change the master proxy settings, which may lead to problems with other services.

Also allowing socks4a proxies would be greatly appreciated

@Dave : once you've merged contacts, you can change the priority. Right-click on the merged contact and click "Rename and Rearrange." Drag them into the desired order.
  • Hey peeps :)

Yay for digsby, keep up the good work :)

Meh, I have a feature request, that someone's inevitably already made. Could it be possible to support custom smileys? I know thats probably quite a big thing, cause as far as I know, digsby doesnt even support other peoples custom smileys, but you know :/

Its just cause MSN smileys *suck* and I like to set my own ones to put people on the other side of my convo out of their MSN-based misery :P

;) but I got the alpha, good work guys :P really appreciate all this, Loving the free-ness :P

By the way, is adding alpha transparency to the buddy list such a pain in the ass or something?
  • When Digsby tries to update, it exits with the error message that it can't find the Python DLL. When I look in the lib folder, the updater removed over 1400 files...

Lol I saw it missing too John. Thanks for sticking up for me. Now for something positive. I have two gmail accounts and you guys have made it sooo easy for me to switch between the two. No pressing logout and then having to fill in another SN/PW. Just click twice and your in. Cheerz
  • John D
oh that is so weird, cuz it didn't show up when i posted. Well it's up now. apologies
  • Brandon
dave it's already set up that way.

right click the merged contact in your buddy list and click "Rename & Rearrange" and you can set the order of priority.

this has always been a feature to my knowledge.

Very nice tool, and I love the docking... just fits right on your screen and you can manage multiple accounts.

    Just great!
  • Dave
I'm loving the alpha version. I had a great idea for Digsby. When you merge contacts (multiple im/accounts to one contact) there should be away to set a chat priority for when a user is logged into more then one. Say my friend is logged into AIM, Gtalk and Facebook. I would set Priority to AIM, then Gtalk , and then Facebook. So when she signs off aim it would automatically change to gtalk.

@John D: We don't remove comments - it is the one right above yours.
  • John D
hey wasn't there a comment on here pointing out the persistent lack of per character formatting earlier? I see it has been removed. Very Big Brother
  • Contra
Still waiting on that per character formatting, Digsby.

@Brian: It's at the top of the to-do list once we clean up the new bugs, memory leaks, and usability quirks introduced in the last couple builds.

@Bandez: In the View menu you can hide groups where everyone is offline

@Tyler: it's something we do want to tackle in the future.

@AriesWarlock: We just tell the operating system to open a URL. Whether it opens in a new tab, new browser, etc. is determined by your browser preferences.

Is the group message feature something that is going to be added in the near future? I use this for work, and there are often times where I have to send a XMPP message out to an entire department. This one feature is the only thing that I am really missing and needing from Digsby. Thanks!
  • Bandez
    Hey,
first I have to say that digsby is the best multi-messenger for me. I tried qip infium and miranda over years, digsby is the best solution for me. I have only one "bug" or problem at time. One group doesn't get invisible when there are no online useres inside.
I will try to erase it now and see if it changes. Sorry for my bad english, I am from germany ;)
  • Tyler
Just a quick question: is there any possibility of Skype integration in the future. I have friends who use Trillian and have it, and that feature would be really handy for me. Keep it up Digsby team!
  • AriesWarlock
I am trying Digsby and it's pretty good so far. I want to ask, could you make an option to open links from twitter, facebook, etc on "current tab," "new tab next to current tab," and "last tab"? I usually have more than 15 tabs open in Firefox and having to scroll to the last tab everytime I click on a link from Digsby it's a little tiresome. Thanks and keep up the good work.
  • Love it! The new Twitter/Facebook/MySpace roll-over-the-picture-to-see-it-without-having-to-actually-visit-T/F/M-is-AWESOME!
  • Mikael
I like the Win7 enhancements as other noted. The snapping could be improved by allowing the conversation windows to snap to the screen edges and taskbar. I have dual screens and I'd like to attach it to the border between both of my screens. As of now I have to manually position it. All in all, more snapping please! :) Thanks for the update.
  • davidhaus
i've been testing it from 3 days, thats a good update, it solves a lot of bugs and i agree with the +1 for the W7 enhancements :)

    great work!
  • Neto
Any word on the mac version?
  • Buna ziua! Cum pot sterge un cont la dumneavoastra?
  • +1 Windows 7 enhancements! :D
  • Ernest
Dude my windows won't snap to anything anymore! Agh!! Using Windows XP SP3.

I would like to note that the pre-updater.exe crashing occurs even while Threatfire is suspended.

Anyway for those with this problem:

    1) Let Digsby download the update and crash
    2) Locate the temp file. For me that is in C:\Users\*\Appdata\Local\Digsby\Temp
    3) Copy all the files here and override those in the digsby folder

That should get you the latest digsby without any crashes. Any word from the developer about this method?
  • kaot
still having a little display error, send out the bug report with the build right bevore the update came^^
it's still there so i hope it gets fixed just as fast, since it's not important but annoying.
Pretty sure it won't take too long, you guys are usually fast with such things.
    :)
  • Thanks for the new update, and that's definitely quite a few bugs you've squashed, and can't wait till majority of them are fixed, which will allow for you guys to concentrate more on adding in features.

    Good luck.
  • davidhaus
    installing it now :)
